I was listening to Radio 4 Fi Glover's prog one Saturday morning and she was chatting to a man from N Ireland. His claim to fame was that (unknown to him) his picture was used on the cover of the CD for Dexy's "Searching for the Young Soul Rebels". The picture was lifted from an article in "The Evening Standard" about catholics being burnt out of their houses in the Ardoyne area in Belfast. He was photographed walking (where)with a hurriedly packed suitcase N Ireland in the 60's 70's was a lot darker than it is now. Memories of difficult and sad times in Belfast but the vibrant and the alive sound of Dexy and his band is quite a contrast.
Forget the albattros that was Come on Eileen. There are 11 songs at least the equal of that, plus the likes of Tell me when my light turns green,Geno,7 days too long, and Dance Stance are better!!! When I first heard this Cd about 6 months ago I really couldnt believe how great this album was,and why it is never in the upper echelons of all those ubiquitous Top 100 albums charts.
