Sanyo Pro X SVGA PLC-SW35 Multimedia Projector Review

When I decided to fulfill a childhood dream and have my own cinema in my frontroom, I knew I was going to be taking somewhat of a risk. Firstly, would I be able to live off the rest of my student loan having forked out for my dream? And secondly, would I be left with a projector that was needing a new lamp?
The second point being more pertinent in this case as a replacement lamp can easily cost around £100!
Thankfully it didn't need a new lamp, and now 3 years on it's still going strong with about 5 hours play time per week (on average, in eco lamp mode).
In terms of features, it has a lot. I won't bore you by going through them as they are easily obtained from most projector outlets, and most likely Sanyo themselves. However, the most usefull feature I've found is the 'keystone correction' -- for straightening the image when projecting onto a wall from below or above the normal.
DVDs, games, TV and your PC/Mac are great. There is nothing like seeing your favourite movie or game come alive in a 100" screen in the confort of your own home.
What's more, you can split the output from your TV, games system, DVD etc into a composite lead and connect your Stereo and the projector for surround sound!
I wouldn't recommend it for purely HD applications as is does not have a high enough resolution to honour what you'd be inputting. But don't be put off, I don't know (as of yet) of any projectors that can create a near HD quality projection.
The noise given off is barely noticeable, and anything that you do hear is quickly lost in the background.
In essence this projector is quite possibly one of teh best gadgets I have ever bought. It is portable, bright, clear, functional on a number of levels, and a real talking point.
I would highly recommend it for home use and small scale business applications.
9.5/10
