Samsung SGH-X660 Mobile Phone - a strange little phone

I read the other reviews here with some amusement. I feel compelled to introduce some balance otherwise you might think this phone is completely wonderful and has no drawbacks.
I've bought 2 of these phones, one for my wife and one for myself, for no reason other than I needed 2 phones and I spotted a cheap deal here on EBay. My criteria was that I wanted something not overly complex (such phones tend to crash constantly so it seems these days), and reasonably priced but still looking smart when you bring it out to make a call.
It's an attractive phone, slim, lightweight, part glossy black, part silver metallic which doesn't feel TOO plastic in your hands. The clamshell design means you don't have to bother with locking and unlocking the keypad.
I wouldn't describe the interface as "simple and straightforward". Not at all. Let me give you an example. To send an SMS to a contact in your address list whose number is not in your own head:
(1) Arrow down (to reach the SMS shortcut)
(2) Arrow right (to open the SMS shortcut menu)
(3) OK button (to select "Create SMS")
(4) type the message (using slightly undersized keys but they're not too bad)
(5) Options button (to open a menu)
(6) Arrow down (to reach the 'Send only' option)
(7) Ok (to select the 'Send only' option)
(8) Options button (to open a menu)
(9) Arrow down (to select 'Address book')
(10) Ok (to select the 'Address book' option)
(11) Press an appropriate alphabet key to skip through your address book to the desired contact name - or however you've organised your contacts list)
(12) Ok (to select that name)
(13) Options button (to open the menu for the THIRD time!)
(14) Ok (to send the message)
(15) Scream in frustration at how Samsung devised such a convoluted system
Some things are simple, what I've described above is currently the worst thing I've found, but then again it's unfortunately the operation I use most often, as texting is so necessary. Once you've got your main numbers set up on speed dial, those are very easy to access - just press and hold the single digit associated with the speed dial, though unless you want to jump into the convoluted menu system again you'll have to keep your speed dial numbers in your head to save time. I do like the way the screen displays extra-large numbers though, it makes dialling numbers manually easier at least.
The battery life is excellent. 10/10 for that bit.
The memory is reasonable. 20 messages only but you do have space for 200 contacts as well as those messages. If you keep 'weeding out' rubbish from your Inbox and Sent Items you will be ok. There's a menu option (arrggg that menu system again) of deleting all your messages at once, which I've used quite often.
One weird thing was that in order to create 'groups' for your contact list members you need to move all contacts from the SIM onto the phone, and do it from there. But then everything appears twice in the contacts list, and you can't shift contacts back from the phone onto the SIM!!!!! Pretty annoying.
One last thing. The camera feature is a real joke. I haven't seen a worse quality camera on any phone, ever. I wish Samsung hadn't included it but instead increase the memory capacity or something else instead.
Overall I've only rated 'good' because although it looks cool and has a good battery and I got it cheap (£20), it has a ridiculous menu system, and very very very poor camera.
Buy this phone if you have £25 to spare.
