Samsung DVD-HD870 DVD Player

Unbeatable value and almost as good as HD/Blu-ray

I decided to buy an upscaling DVD player as soon as I bought my Samsung HD TV.

Like many people, I already have a DVD collection and wasn't about to replace it all with Blu-ray and then replace it all again should HD-DVD succeed.

This player gives 1080i resolution, compatibility with all my dvds and all this for just £40, it was a no-brain decision!

It needs almost no setup, just a HDMI cable and tell it what resolution you want and away you go.

It can even be 'unlocked' to play imported DVDs.

I really can't fault it and would recommend to anyone who's just bought a HD TV.

  Weird noise???
Review created: 06/06/08

The look of it is fab it is nice and sleek and goes perfectly with my Samsung TV.

All the features are ok nothing special to report.

I have one problem, sometimes not always I hear a weird noise comming out of the dvd player not my TV speakers the player it is like a high pitch but not very loud tune. Very weird.... I am the kind of shopper that cannot be bothered to take items back so I am just dealing with it.

This slick-looking machine is designed to complement Samsung's beautiful looking current flat TV range.
You can pick one of these babies up from £30.00 second hand upto £65.00 brand new.
I personally managed to nab one for £30.00 +p&p, money well spent.
Good Points
Rich, natural colours
Features
Sleek design
Price

Bad Points
Having to stop discs first to access setup menus

Overall
A very good all-rounder thats capable of decent pictures & sound, at a great price.

Great HDMI DVD Player for the price

Read reviews on this system, and came tops for a HDMI player under £100. Wasn't disappointed. Great player, even looks good, even plays DIVX. Play quality exellent. Straight forward plug in HDMI cable and off you go. If you are looking for a HDMI player without spending the earth, you won't go far wrong with one of these. Great peice of kit

  Samsung DVD HD870
Review created: 13/03/08

Very easy to set up and produces great sound and pictures. Also easily changed to multi-region. I don't have a suitable tv to comment on the upscaling feature. Looks very sleek in gloss black, but this also shows up marks easily too, especially around the tiny little open/close button. Other annoying points are having to stop a dvd to adjust settings, the way too bright blue light and the very dim display, although I've not had any issues with the remote as others have reported.
None of these are major issues, but they do detract enough from giving five stars.
*Avoid factory re-furbs if you want an English instruction manual*

Needed a new dvd player that played DIVX and that had an HDMI connection. Read many near perfect reviews about this one and was very pleased to find that i saved money also. Easy installation - clear picture, simple but effective controls. 4 1/2 stars out of 5.!!!!

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://kudosnetwork.co.uk/?ref=174 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.

excellent value for the money. Upgraded picture quality is very good. Only down side is that the remote control is fiddly to use and slow to respond. Overall, great piece of kit and would definitely recommend it.
