i bought this dvd as it was a film i like to watch especially as it has richard gere in it i enjoy it so i thought id buy it to add to my small collection

While this movie is a fun and sweet movie (without question a chick flick) it also has deeper meaning I believe. Most of us could take a closer look at what kind of eggs we order and if it changes with new partners. I love the ending. Without question one of Ms Roberts better roles. But then I love to see the two of them working together whenever.

RUNAWAY BRIDE dvd Julia Roberts - Richard GereBought this off ebay as saw film before, figured would be nice to have to watch at my leisure. Julia Roberts is a fantastic actress and here films are usually great with Richard Gere in this also, it reminded me of them in their other film Pretty Woman.
Julia Roberts plays a fantastic part as Maggie who is about to get married, Richard Gere is a reporter and he needs a story he is the 'last minute man' when it comes to getting his story, he must have a story. He needs a story that's going to grab readers attention! What can he write about? he happens to be in a pub having a drink as you do, when all of a sudden a story is waiting to be written! Runaway Bride! who is she.....Maggie Carpenter? is she for real? she happens to exist and she happens to apparently be getting married, BUT no-one is sure whether she will stay or go! but why?
Apparently she does like running and has a pair of trainers....Richard Gere finds himself a story and a whole lot or hair-raising fun, he even has the odd fan?! who hits his arm with a newspaper....aah.....
A great comedy film with the romance and the LOL moments ;o) you never know what will happen, you have to watch......

Richard Gere plays Ike Graham a disgruntled Male Chauvinist New York columnist desperate for the story to revive his career. When a friend at a bar tells him the story of Maggie Carpenter (Julia Roberts), a woman who always flees from looming weddings leaving her grooms standing at the altar. Ike takes the opportunity to write a very biased story about Maggie without fully researching the subject. However the next day Ike gets fired for faking facts, resulting in Ike's only way to get his job back being to write a proper fact-based report on Maggie. But after reading his libelous work, Maggie is none too keen to co-operate.
Maggie is due to be married again, and the whole town including Ike is waiting baited breathed as to what she will do.....will she run?
This movie is the result of Richard Gere and Julia Roberts being reunited after the smash hit of Pretty Woman. In general comedy duos on screen that are recreated in a later movie never seem to get the same chemistry, this could be because our expectations have been raised so much by the initial success, But i feel this movie is good in it's own right.
A nice romantic comedy to relax on a night in with! Recommended.
