JUST AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TIME WATCHING IT, WILL WATCH AGAINING WHEN GOT NOTHING ELSE TO DO, OR AS GOOD TO WATCH, OPENS YOUR EYES TO HOW AFRICAN PEOPLE WAS TREATED AND HOW WARS ARE STARTED BETWEEN COUNTRYS.
From the very beginning this is a riveting series with many twists and turns I can honestly say that after I put it on I had to watch all 580 minutes of it. If you get the chance to get hold of a copy do so.
I decided to buy this film as i am really into black history african roots. I watched the film years ago and now that i started collecting dvd i thought that it would be a great film to add to the collection. I really enjoyed watching the film again since it had been such a long time since watching it last. Many thanks
watched roots the first time round on the telly and have always wanted to see it again have now sat down and watched the whole series again and loved it just as much as the first time i saw it fantastic and very sad story but with a great ending of freedom
I remember the series being shown on television in the 1970's and loved it. As far as I know it has never been repeated on television so I decided to buy the DVD and watch it again. I couldn't believe how much of it I had forgotten over the last 30 years and I loved, and understood it, even more than before. I believe that it was one of the most popular mini series (if not the most popular) ever shown on television and I can recommend anyone who hasn't seen it to get hold of a copy - or even if you have seen it, watch it again.
i remember seeing this programme years ago and was pleased to be able to see again. It brought back to viewers how far we have progressed in relation to our attitudes on race
i bought this dvd asi saw the series on v years ago and i wanted it for my collection because it is abrilliant show and now i can watch it whenever i like its hard to imagine what them poor people had to suffer it put my life into perspective
This is a really hardhitting drama about slavery, love, compassion etc... I watched this years ago with my parents and remember how awestruck and gripped I was, so I decided I had to have my own copy.
excellent film!! This film has fond memories for me. In my early teens my mother and I spend a whole girly day drinking tea and having snacks while watching the entire film. I have bought it as a gift for her for christmas to tell her how special that one day was and that i will remember it for the rest of my life.
This is like having a little piece of my childhood back! It brings back wonderful memories of times spent with my mum nibbling on chocolates. This is the kind of mini-series that makes you laugh out loud, but also to cry your heart out at the way the slaves were treated in the southern states of America! The characters are wonderfully believeable and watching this will not fail to touch the heart of even the 'hardest' person. Watch and learn!!
packaging and delivery were superb,it was one of the series on television that I can remember growing up with and thought it would be a great opportunity to show my own family in dvd format a great, family and historical programme ,a true blast from the past.
Bought this for my husband, he was delighted to be able to watch his most favourite series of all time again. I myself was delighted to be able to obtain this item which was in excellent condition from e-bay.
This is a great series on slavery in america. This mini series is the story of author alex haleys search to discover his family history ,it contains a historical account of the life of kunte kinte through the generations.I bought these dvds to watch on a rainy day and once i started to watch them i could not stop which for me is extremely rare.
I was very pleased with this item. I watched it on tv when I was very young and it made a lasting impression on me - I think it was the first time I ever knew about "slavery" as we were never taught in school. Now I have it on DVD I can watch it again at my leisure. Well worth the money!
I bought this, because when I was younger I remember watching it and never really understood it, but the names of the characters remind with me as I grew up ("Kunta Kinta" and Kizzy) I really enjoyed this complete series, and would recommend it to every one of all ages, I found it very touching and cried at alot at the way they were treated, i thought it gave a true account of the slavery times. I have looked in the shops over the years for this Video or DVD, but to no avail. I was so pleased when I found it on E-Bay
There was nothing at all that I disliked about it i throughly enjoyed everything about it, Even the specail features at the end!!
