This cd is pure 80's but let's not forget the fact that she was working with the exceptionally talented Petshop Boys. It has a caberet feel because of the strength and 'Liza value' of her voice, but also a typically modern feel with the mechanical but musical efforts of the P S Boys. This cd takes a while to get into but well worth the effort for all Liza fans. Lyrics however sometimes have the depth of a puddle - 'Sometimes I stsy in, not going left, not going right'. What's that all about! Buy it and enjoy it for what it is.
I missed this album so much after I got rid of my vinyl then lost the cassette! What a classic album. Liza at her 'icon' best helped every step of the way by the fantastic per shop boys. Every track is a gem but the Losing my mind is fantastic. Listening to it again after so long produced an incredible rush of fantastic memories. Where did the time go?
Fantastic CD, I'd forgotten just how good this was, Buy one now, You won't regret it. I'd call this one of the Pet Shop Boys finest Records to date, A gem.
I first bought this album on cassette format and played it to death and with the advent of CD's i thought i had better get a CD copy. I personally think this is some of Liza's best work, working with the Pet shop boys has put some spark back into her voice with a range of well chosen songs that she sings to an extremely high standard. One song in particular 'Rent' is so different to the Pet shop boys version but has not suffered at all. The song has a slightly dark edge to it but most of the other songs are upbeat and the album shows what a talented and accomplished singer Liza Minelli is and how she can adapt her vocal range to suit a very good album. The album is a 'must have ' in anyones collection. You won't be dissapointed!.
