This is a really good cd in the true style of Duran Duran. Quite gutsy- Simons vocals are brilliant! Some of the tracks are typical of the groups early stuff.
While I really loved and enjoied their return album Astronaut, I must admit this new title left me disappointed. I think it is too synthetic and the sound really 'sounds' a bit off the Duran's track. Do we have to expect even Simon's voice to be digitezed next?! Really not their best, more close to their worst!
Not one Of Duran Duran's best albums to be honest, you can hear the influences of Justin Timberlake (not my cup of tea) I've got all of Duran Duran's albums and would rate this one near the bottom
Great album, boys back on form, although maybe just a little too much tinkering from the producers takes away that 'band' sound. The drums may as well be from a drum machine as Roger Taylor's kit. Still, a great album and worth a listen.
As I have always been a Duran Duran fan and own every album, I am naturally interested when they release a new record. Their comeback album 'Astronaut' is excellent and I expected this follow-up to be really good as well. I'm afraid in my opinion, it falls below their usual standards. They teamed up with Timberlake/Timbaland to produce the album, but there is a lack of strong tracks on here, no real drum or guitar sound. The single 'Falling Down' didn't even make the top 40 charts. Duran Duran are capable of making great records and I would advise them to return to the style of 'Astronaut'.
I will keep this very straightforward. If you are too disappointed that Andy left and are not a fan of Justin Timberlake (as indeed I am not) you could be put off buying one of the best Duran albums of all. Okay, it is slightly over produced and there are too many synthesized beats despite having a highly talented drummer in the band and perhaps not enough guitar, although the explanation for this is slightly more obvious. However, I would encourage you to buy this album, put it on repeat play and after 2 - 3 listens you will discover what I have - this is a cracking album. In my opinion Falling Down is the second last track that should have been released (Skin Divers is my least favourite album track). Be brave and release Valley, Red Carpet Massacre or Zoom In
