This is like a Blackberry, only better! The thumbwheel is gone, replaced by a white rollerball below the 2.2in bright 65k colour screen. The ball lights up when you use it and looks a bit like a pearl. As a method to find your way around menus and web pages it's actually very good. Despite its flash looks, this is a Blackberry through and through. Setting up mail is a doddle and once you've tapped in your details via the web, email will flow through like text messages. If you want a Blackberry but have been put off by their appearance, this is the model for you. But beware – after a week with it, you won't be able to return to a standard mobile. Excellent !!!!
I bought this phone after having a Nokia and hearing just how good it was. Well the rumours were right it is good. Great looking this phone is ideal with staying in contact with great e mail feature and internet. The sure text is good and I soon got the hang of it. Easy to use functions I fully recommend it you will soon get hooked. Lovely phone.
I bought this to upgrade from my old w810i BIG IMPROVEMENT!
I recommend doing some research on themes and the latest OS the theme that comes with it is fugly but there are so really nice FREE themes out there! I upgraded the OS to 4.5 so i now have a more modern look with transparency etc love the phone battery life is bit crap compared to my w810i but I might buy a better battery or something :)
Blackberry pearl, to me it has been a diamond,i have had a secret wish to have a phone such as this for some time, and now i have taken that step im so pleased with the result. Its a beautifull looking phone, function wise it fits the bill.I am still amazed at how much this phone is capable of and to what depth,im a fairly old guy,so i am pleased with the screen display, the letters and instructions are so easy to read and follow, the key board was a slight challenge at first, but i quickly got to grips with it,im waiting now to connect to the internet, this will make my Blackberry experiance complete.
this phone is excellent..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
A very good buy and delivered on time in the condition described in the article . Would recommend the seller as anawered Emails straight away and was very prompt
Anyone new to Blackberry will find this type of mobile strange. Yes strange. Different keypad layout, different system and operating system and general layout.... but that is no reason not to go ahead and buy a Blackberry.
This 8100 is one of the first to incorporate a camera, admittedly it is only a 1.3 megapixel, but this is a breakthrough. This is Blackberry's attempted to beak into the consumer market and I think they have a winner. There are now other newer Blackberry's available ie 8110. They have also added a media player and stereo headset for music and videos. MP3 and ACC music files and MPEG4 and H.263 video files are supported. To assist with this there is an internal memory and has the option SD Micro memory cards (up to 2Gb).
The design of this Blackberry is unlike any before it in so much that, gone are the chunky fist filling lump of technology and replaced with the so called Chocolate bar sleek design. This really is such a superb design that it makes you just want to hold it. It is encased in glossy black with chrome trim and measures only 4.2 x 1.97 x 0.57" inches and weighs a mere 88 grams. This Blackberry is a Quad band GSM/GPRS (yes you can have maps on your handheld) and EDGE-enabled device (not 3G). The 3G admission is one of a size issue. It also has bluetooth and an interface that is a pleasure to use. It supports 65,000 colours and stretches to 240 x 260 giving it a clear and easily readable display.
For business users there is the Blackberry Enterprise Server... but you'll need to talk to your Systems Administrator to get it installed. Messaging doesn't stop with email though. With a couple of clicks you can install GoogleTalk and Yahoo! Messenger. Of course SMS and MMS is supported.
This is only a brief review as there has already been so much said about this Blackberry but The Pearl 8100 is the first to bring Blackberry into the consumer marketplace. This is no longer the sole ownership of Business. If you are thinking of upgrading your mob then give Blackberry some thought. There are some good deals available particularly with O2.
If you go Blackberry though, as I stated at the front of this review, you will need to change your mob habits and at first it will seem strange.... but it is worth the transition. Go Blackberrying now you won't look back. This 8100 is how all mobiles will be in the future.
I love the "rollerball" navigation - it's the best thing ever. I don't love the "two letters per key" layout - I wish I had bought the wider phone with the full qwerty keyboard. However, the size is rather convenient... It's very different to use compared to a normal mobile phone, I wasn't expecting that. The BlackBerry bit (ie. emails) is costing me an extra £5 per month on my current tarrif, but that's quite acceptable really. I did have a problem "unlocking" the phone though - it came with an existing "IT policy" which I had to remove. Was simple enough to do, found the details on line - but be warned, you have to know a little bit about what you are doing to unlock it. Apparently most BlackBerrys are like this as they have all been set up by companies IT departments to be specific to that company... All in all though, I am really pleased with it - plus my mobile provider (T-Mobile) have been very helpful in assisting me with the setup. I only decided to buy this as my old Nokia N80 was malfunctioning and I had started to use the internet on my phone much more, so I figured the BlackBerry would be a good option. It is, but I think if you don't need the email push option, just get a phone with a good size screen and internet capability - ie. Nokia N95 etc. Overall, all things considered, I'd give the BlackBerry 8/10 for satisfaction.
Wanted one of these for ages but unfortunatly got one that was locked to another network :( . Works great for my wife tho!! So good i bought another one for myself ( on my own network!!) Great phone.
The Blackberry Pearl (8100 series) wouldn't be my personal first choice but this 1 was bought for my hubby. My personal dislikes are mainly to do with the predictive text which is probably my pet peeve on all mobile phones! I use Blackberrys at work and am more used to the full qwerty keyboard from the larger models like the 8800 or the 8300. The Pearl however does offer everything the larger models have. The main difference is size and the keyboard. If you are looking for a mobile phone that offers internet & the ability to receive your email while out and about but want something smaller than the standard Blackberrys then this is the device for you.
this is an excellent phone....got all the bells and whistles!!....but DO NOT get one if you intend to use it with a Virgin sim card!...they dont tend to do everything theyre supposed to do, and virgin cant help you...be warned!!
looks good, operats good and easy once you get the hang of it, the phon eis amazing. decided to buy it because it is an overall good phone, the best phone i have ever had!!!!!

All you have to follow to get your free gift are 3 easy steps:
1. Sign up to the site above. (fill in your details eg. name, country).
2. Complete an offer - For UK residents the best offer to do is Coral, all you have to do is bet 5 pounds on a sport and thats it! However, you can do Lovefilm which is a free trial, but it takes 2 weeks to credit your offer...
3. Refer 5 family members, friends or strangers to complete step 2 for you! That's right, just 5 people!
Thats all! Its as easy as that! So give it a try, you 've got nothing to lose!
This phone is the first time I have owned a Blackberry and basically all I can say is what have I been missing the Pearl fits nicely in to your hand the screen is good and very easy to work your way through all the many features you have on this phone. It is easier to send text as the qwerty key set out is great and the words are spelt out without you having to scroll through an endless list of words it can be as each key only as two letters per key, therefore less combinations of possible words. You can use the set up wizard to help with using the phone but basically this phone is great. On the down side the back cover which covers the battery and the camera is too flexible but a small price to pay for a phone which as everything, you will not be disappointed with this phone it is great.
Nice looking phone, Pro's Lightweight, lots of functions, Voice command great feature. Negative's hard to use, not much choice of ringtones, alerts etc, volumes of ringtones etc not very loud, complicated to use at first, paintwork easily peels off.
In all a good phone once you have grasped how it works, however I would reccomend that you use the case to protect the phone and to download your own ring tones etc also, worth dowloading the fulll user mannual fom Blackberry website for further tips/advice.
like and plesed with phone what ordered got fast delivery made ordering easy and fun.i decided to buy it as right price and no expensive delivery charge added so got the phone been looking for at right price.
THE BLACKBERRY IS GREAT PHONE NO PROBLEMS ITS WORKING GREAT, THE SELLER WAS GREAT ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS WITH EASE. OVERALL 10/10 ON EVERYTHING THANK YOU. ASH
I decided to buy this phone because I wanted a blackberry and thought it looked nice having a blackberry. So I saw someone on ebay selling it and gave a description that it was working perfectly and no scratches but has been used. But when I won the item and it was delivered to me it had scratches the phone was faulty because the light would fade somtimes. There was no internet access nothing. All you could do was play games on it take pictures recive calls make calls. recive text and send text. it is the worst phone I have ever had. There was nothing I liked about the phone it just stressed me out.
The reason for buying the phone was because it was a good product, and the my last phone was also blackberry, but was the old one and was working perfectly. the only thing i dislike about this new blackberry was that the keyboard was too complicated. and it not very easy to type or send a txt, because the keyboard was not like any other phone, that u can type on it easily.
The product was perfect foe my needs, It is an excellent phone, but difficult to understand the functions.Once you know what to do the rest are history. I think the producer can do more with the ring tones. A friend recommended the phone to me and I 've not regretted buying it.
This phone is not only light in weight, it is heavy in features. It is easy to use has a battery life that exceeds anything I've had before all in all a very good phone.
Pretty good phone. Includes everything which is great all at the touch of a buton.
Only downside is that it doesnt hold its charge if connected to Yahoo! permanently, 30min call and browse for 30plus mins a day for more than 2 days but quick charge
