I used to have this on tape when i was youger and wore the tape out! (showing my age) An absolute must for all prince fans out there. Cracking tunes. Was so over the moon to find this and as i guessed, i am now wearing out the CD!
Bought it for a silly reason, that being, that it is the only album i know of that has a song with my name in it (NICKY). That aside, it is a brilliant album and prince has always been one of my favourite singers. Would highly rec this album to any prince fans.
Excellent transaction the goods arrived very quickly, great seller and the cd plays fine. Have been wanting it or a while and couldn't find it so really pleased
I love music by Prince and Purple Rain is one of my favourite songs. I have seen the film, so all I needed was the music to accompany the motion picture.
this cd is for any Prince fan, it as some of his all time greatest hits on it. they include the title track purple rain and when doves cry. it also has some weird and wonderful tracks like darling nikki. it`s a classic cd and worth getting hold of a copy for your collection.
I bought this album because it reminds of the when I was younger and I used to listen to it all the time, its a great album and I still enjoy listening to it now that I am abit older, the oldies are the best!!!!!!!!!!
It may be cliched to praise "Purple Rain" but this is one album that justifies all hype. Whilst "Thriller" and "Like A Virgin" may have been the other huge commercial successes at the time which transformed their composers to superstars, this is the only album of the three that has truly stood the test of time. The fact that Prince made this record to deliberately turn himself into a superstar only demonstrates the genius at work, for what could be interpreted as arrogance is really assurance over something so good. The opening track "Let's Go Crazy" is just so heart-warming and life affirming it can not fail to make you want to sit up and listen. "Take Me With You" follows this yet adds another 110% from the first song. The middle of the album lavishes the listener in Prince's unique sexuality with The Revolution on fine form from the devastatingly lush "The Beautiful Ones" to the sexually charged opening to "Computer Blue", completed by the explicit yet haunting "Darling Nikki". The second half of the album contains the killer singles "When Doves Cry", "I Would Die 4 U" (blended into the fine "Baby I'm A Star") climaxing with the ultimate "Purple Rain". There are no standout tracks on this album, merely because they are all of such high standard.
