This album, for me, finds Depeche Mode on top form. Really loved it from the first play. I saw them live on this tour and remember how strong the new songs sounded so it always gives me a pleasent reminder of yet another good night courtesy of Depeche Mode. A national treasure.

the music is not the way depeche mode are they are too morbid in there songwriting these days gone are the great rythmes and basses like on there first 7 albums.bring back the feel-good facter lads.ever since alan left the band something has been missing i,m afraid.i bought it to compare with thre other albums.
Depeche Mode in this new album mix sounds of very relaxing music together with excellent lyrics, and that's undoubtedly the perfect mixture. It is a very united album, and at the same time it is not repetitive. Their voices in this album sound clear amd mature. I love that!
About time they were honoured for contribution to British Music! A sometimes dark but always passionate album this that stands up well against any new bands that are on scene. Precious, Suffer Well, Nothings Impossible, Darkest Star... among my favourites. A real "GROWER" this album with tunes that really grow on you and leave you wanting more and more.... 100/100 (If you can get the version with the extra DVD it's worth it too!)
I've been a modette now for just over a year and am hooked. Waited on tenter hooks for this album to come out and was not disappointed at all. Mode at there best. Hardened fans will not be disappointed and the new fans will instantly want to buy the rest of the collection. As Dave said this cd was waiting to be played live and fantastic it was as well. Martin doing his usual magic with Dave throwing in 3 of his songs too. A must have for the collection.
For hardened Mode fans who've waited long for another offering, this one will not disappoint The band has retained its melancholic style whilst returning some way towards its "synthy" past. The judicious use of guitars is excellent. Wonderfully, Dave Gahan himself has written three of the tracks: his "Suffer Well" being a real winner. "Lilian" might be a bit too dancy for some, but definitely not for me! Worth splashing out on.
