I don't know who is responsible for the lyrical solidity of early Black Sabbath lyrics, but I have heard that Geezer Butler was or indeed is the main man. Rosetta Stone turned from a Gothic B List band to an industrial force so why shouldn't the Sabbath bassist try his hand. This is like dry wine. It takes some getting used to. Some of the songs do have quasi-hooks that may or not cut through the cutaneous. All in all I have got used to this stuff and have become very pro. Song text often seem to relate to classic TV shows of the 60s and 70s. Cult TV! I don't like the fact they've changed the name of the band three times - slightly.
