What surprised me so much about this movie is that its only about 1 hour 5 minutes or so long. But then again.. does that surprise me?... well no... i mean it is filmed totally in a phone box (booth) (tardis) whatever!. I mean you can only do so much while stuck in one.
I remember when my mum saw it she said the funniest thing.. she fell to sleep half during the movie and she woke up later and he was still in the phone box. it sounds quite funny, although this is what the films about. a guy in a phone box being threatened on the phone.
Anyway... he gets out in the end, i bet he was busting for the loo.
I like the DVD and i watched and i think is great dvd..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
phone booth is such and eciting a interesting film i have watched this many of times and quite like it is one of them mind bending films and it makes u watch very closely
This is an amazing film, mainly filmed with colin farrell in a phone booth. He is a celebrity promoter, who lives in the fast lane, bouncing from job to job and girlfriend to wife. he has been tracked and followed and set up by a psychotic killer who takes it in his own hands to make people who are crooked in one way or another. he has been researched amazingly even down to what sort of watch he wears. I cannot stress that you really should take time out to watch this film
I really love this film,it's about a man Stu Sheppard who is having an affair behind his wifes back,he uses a phone booth to call his misstress so as not to be caught out-or so he thought.Lottle did he know that there is a mad killer on the loose who wants to put the world to rights he can't stand people who have done wrong and wants to make Stu pay.Stu answers a phone call in the booth from him and it all starts from there,he is trapped in the phone booth and has to do exactly what the killer says without letting on to anyone that he is in danger. This film will have you on the edge of your seat-fantastic.
The rivetting story of a small time con man held to account by a self styled vigilante trying to clean up the world. This is edge of seat, nail biting at its best. The sort of film that makes you examine your own faults, just in case, I thoroughly recommend it.
its a good film.forone person to spend an hour and a half in one place acting out a film is great.it shows all aspects you want from a film but then also gives you that feeling that youve been standing in that phonebox too!
its a whole film well nearly aholw film in a phon box booth u choose !!kind of good thriller a little slow paced at times though , but worth it for the colin farrel fans out there !!! overall not a bad film , i didnt fall asleep watching it !!
The script for this, from the outset without seeing the film looks grim and poor, boring and repetitive, but the film is completely the opposite.
A must watch, full of tense drama/action with a lot of well written twists and turns, a decent cast and a well directed film, worth a look thats for sure, not the greatest film of all time, but neither is it the worst, no where near.
really disappoimted with this film watchable but wudnt bother watchin it again. short film so if u have a spair hour to waste buy thisa film because its only that long.
Basic Plot: Stuart Shepard finds himself trapped in a phone booth, pinned down by an extortionist's sniper rifle.
What i say: Colin Farrell is a self-professed star publicist with an attitude to boot. Watch 81 minutes of gut-wrenching nerve-wracking dialog reduce a pretentious "kiss my ass" punk into an enervated and regretful reprobate. Farrell is simply awesome in portraying the gravity of the situation. "The Caller"'s voice is absolutely worth a mention. Calm, creepy and authoritative ! Something different and the movie would have fallen flat on its 'flab less' anterior. Sutherland plays 'The Caller' , manning a high profile sniper rifle ,while he thrusts honesty upon Stu Shephard(Colin Farrell). Frankly, I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen for a second.
Ebert himself was marveled by the creativity of "Phone Booth" . Why !It wasn't without sufficient reason ! A gaudy character stuck inside a phone booth in a busy locale , some good camera work , bunch of apartment windows, a psycho sniper and 10 days of excellent filming supported by a 'worth a mention' cast. Fabulous entertainment and a Good Display of Creativity.
I own this DVD and think it is worth owning yourself if you like tense thrillers. Phone Booth lasts one hour and about 11 mins, but is packed full of action from start to finish. Set in New York Colin Farrell plays Stuart Shephard, a self centred man who only seems to care about himself. His day takes a turn for the worse when he decides to pick up a ringing phone in a public phone booth on a busy street. The voice the other end will change his life forever. A man holds Stuart hostage in the phone booth and threatens to shoot if he hangs up. Stuart is shocked and scared as the man seems to know everything about him and his life. Stuart tries to hold his life and mental state together as things only go downhill and get more tense. Will Stu survive and will the madman get caught. Nail biting action will keep you hooked all the way through. I really enjoyed this film and because it was so tense, it was good only being just over one hour long. Any longer and it would of been too much. DVD extras are also very good. Well worth adding to your collection
Good film. Very tense, short but full of action and Colin was amazing as the stressed victim caught in a phone booth with a nutter keeping him hostage at gunpoint.
Bought this because we enjoyed it from rental. Colin Farrell's acting is great in this and he makes the film - which is good because its all about him and as the title says a "phone booth". Very thrilling and suspense orientated, you have to keep watching and the twist at the end although predictable is still cleverly done! The extra bonus scenes on the DVD make for good viewing as well. Particularly how quickly the film had to be put together and the extrdrodinary lengths the continuity experts have to undertake. Something different and a good running time to keep your attention.
I love the film have wanted it for ages seen it on ebay and bought it from you. I like the story line, I think its a well done movie and the ending is good that they think they've got the bad guy but they havent
This film is AMAZING!!! considering it was only made on 1 street!!! it Put the "IN" into Incredible!!! i BOUGHT IT BECASUE I HAD WANTED TO WATCH IT FOR A LONG TIME!!! so i cam on e bay and got it at a bargin(cheaper than renting it) ans now i own it but i didnt expect it to be aas good as it is!! it WAS WELL ABOVE MY EXPECTATIONS!!! but i would recomond this to al ppl!!! its an amzing film!!
I got this film out under duress as someone insisted I have to see it. But I'm glad I did. The notion of a film which 90% focuses on one single very small venue did not appeal, as it is going to be clear early on if the actor on whom the film relies cannot carry it off, and you're left with a choice of the off switch or persevering on a 'have started so I'll finish' basis. Fortunately, I thought Farrell carried it off well. He is never difficult on the eye, and was particularly pleasing in this film, but more importantly he has sufficient range to come through in a role like this, which I thought he did well. His Irish accent slipped through more than once which was a bit distracting, but that was a minor problem. He was supported well by all the other cast members, with the exception of Katie Holmes whose 8 year old's voice grates on me every time. Fortunately her role was small enough not to distract. Keifer Sutherland was suitably menacing as the caller, and although the ending was a little bit predictable, in that there was always going to be a twist and you could see this one marching in from off camera, I enjoyed it very much.
its a great film i had seen it before at the cinema with my son and we both enjoyed it immensely so when i saw it up for bidding on i went for it .its a real cliffhanger even having seen it before and very clever, great ending highly recommended cheers Ron M
Phone Booth is a fantastic film. This film grips you from the start with tension and anticipation throughout. When I first heard about the film I wondered how my interest could be held by a film where all of the action is in a phone booth but believe me it really does keep you on the edge of your seat. Your emotions really go through it. I bought this dvd as it really is a must for my dvd collection and I feel it will become a classic. Not many dvd's make it into my dvd cabinet but this one earnt its place.
Ok so this film follows a tried and tested formula. The acting is good and the situation is plausable, there are some real nutters out there.
The film being ties to the phone booth makes it feel claustrophobic and the suspense adds to the enjoyment of the film.
The ending as with most films nowadays is predictable given the standard twist in the tail which you see coming from miles away.
Taken as a film as a whole it is enjoyable, has enough action and suspense to keep you ticking over. The acting is good and it is generally good entertainment.
