This is very good dvd player upscaler for the price. I realy was happy when it started to playback all my divx movies from memory stick. Very easy to use makes Philips DVP 5960 even more attractive. Connected trough hdmi cable to HD ready TV it produces superb video quality.

  PHILIPS 5960

This player delivers a great judder free crisp picture even on my lower range lcd tv. Very simple operation & looks good with its slimline appearance. On the downside it takes a little time to load via HDMI, there is no clock feature in standby mode & the remote could do with a fastforward option. All in all though for this price it's as good as any other HDMI capable player I have seen.

reveiws on ovr sites & ppl voted 4.5/5
Review created: 25/07/08

Read loads of reveiws about this DVD player on other sites and most ppl voted 4.5/5 and the mjoroty of them paid full price and said they would have paid more for a lesser unit from other manufactures. The only negative, which I dont feel is a real big problem is that you have to go onto phillips's web-site and download a driver to make playback of jPEG slideshows better. Full instructions are also given on the same link.

Fantastic feature is the USB slot on the front which means as it supports multi-formats, you can dowload a file from your computer onto a USB stick and plug it strait in so you can view your grainy computer version upscaled to 1080i without having to burn the file onto a disc first.

For a bugjet player (budjet as in the price you can find it for if you shop around as it retails at £49.99), it does more than others say on the tin.

  good player

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.

This is a good unit! It does what it says on the tin.

The only downer to it is that there is no optical output.

Great quality DVD at an amazing price of £29.99, worked straight out of the box and was multi-region enabled. Hooked it up with an HDMI cable and connected it to a Samsung LCD-amazing picture quality. Haven't tried the USB though, will recommend!

  Philips DVP5960 DVD Player Review

This is an original Philips DVP5960 DVD Player. It looks very nice and slim and functions perfect. If your one for space saving then this is great. This is exactly what i wanted when i was looking for a DVD and DivX Player.

In terms of playback. The quality is amazing and video upscaling is easy (literally the touch of a button). You insert the disc and push the HD Upscale button until you get your desired option. Obviously to get HD output you need to be using the HD component cables, or even better, the HDMI cable. Depending on the quality and transfer of the cable the HD can vary (almost not noticeable), the higher the transfer rate in GigaBytes the better the output quality. On this Player the output is perfect.

Also the Divx playability is great. On some Divx players some Divx videos tend not to work due the the codecs age. Older codecs don't run and newer are fine. However on this DVD/Divx Player, the Divx compatibility is excellent. Divx videos can be played either by writing them onto CDs or DVDs and the function i like the best via USB. You can plug in a USB Memory Stick or even, as i have tested, a external hard drive. I played some movies i had off a 500gb external hard drive with the USB connection and the movies play perfectly without any lagging. The remote is small with (possibly the only downside, if even important) limited functionality, but after all this is only a DVD/DivX Player.

Overall this DVD/DivX Player is excellent for its price and high quality, and i woudl recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cheap but high quality DVD/DivX Player.

R

  Philips DVP5960 DVD Player
Review created: 03/05/08

I was looking for a player as my mico DVD Recorder seemed reluctant to play just about anything that wasn't brand new or recorded by itself.
I did some research ( well, quite a lot od research) and decided this model was the one to go for.
ok, to the product, it really does exactly what it says on the tin. It has played everything I have thrown at it, the picture and sound quality are both excellent, it is very easy to use in basic mode, but is feature packed when you need it.
Having had a long think about it, I can only come up with one minor dislike, which is that the remote is slightly sensitive, and sometimes needs to be aimed carefully at the machine, A very small gripe though, and I would highly recommend this player to anyone.

  No Extra Frills!
Review created: 01/05/08

If your'e looking for special features or a few extras then this isn't the machine for you! You get what you pay for which is a basic DVD Player which is all I wanted. I only have one complaint and that is the remote handset needs to be within 1 Metre to actually work with the player which is a little annoying!

PHILIPS DVD PLAYER WITH PICTURE UPSCALER
Review created: 02/04/08
by:

Sleek and tidy looking with a nice glossy black frontage. Has enhanced my viewing pleasure from the norm with a HDMI cable attached and using the upscaler - Great glad I tried it. Remote is fully functional so I can slob in my armchair when using it - shame it cant change the DVD. I thought because it was upscaling the picture that the movie would be jerky and bitty but NO excellent picture as one expects from the Philips brand. For the money a very good piece of equipment.

Review created: 30/03/08

Well i Haven't received it yet, but what i liked was it is virtually half the price of similar make players and spec wise holds it own against them as well.
I bought it to experience this HD phenomenon as i have aquired a HD tele and price wise it is excellent value, i just hope it exceeds my expectations when i set it up.

Regards,
B.Galloway

  sophisticate HD DVD player
Review created: 31/01/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

very complete HD DVD...I can used any pen-flash driver with the USB socket to watch DiVx movies!

The good: Relatively inexpensive; HDMI upconversion to 720p, 576p, and 1080i; DivX compatibility with decent playback performance; mostly solid video quality.

The bad: Annoying shift bug causes some black bars on movies; 576p mode is close to unwatchable; no S-Video output.

The bottom line: The Philips DVP5960/37 HDMI-upscaling DVD player is an excellent choice for budget-conscious HDTV owners and multimedia aficionados, and its DivX playback is a nice bonus.

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://kudosnetwork.co.uk/?ref=174 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.
