I decided to buy it because it was a good and reasonable price for a recon. item.I needed it to upgrade dvd to HDMI quality or as near as poss.I have had one or two small problems but overall and bearing in mind the cost, am perfectly satisfied.I am a Philips product user and have had very satisfactory use and service in the past from all my purchases.I am very impressed with the quality of the picture, and the model is simple to operate. I dislike nothing about it.

I am absolutely thrilled with this dvd recorder. It's functions and especially the price make it a fantastic purchase. I've hooked it up to my sky+ box so if I want to keep something I've recorded for ever I just burn it to disc. It plays all format of dvds including divvx movies and jpeg cds, so you can play your holiday pics and movies. It has a USB slot on the front so it's possible to play your mp3s on it as well. It even has an analogue and freeview tuner as well. There are so many functions I could go on describing it for hours. It even came with an HDMI cable. One final thing... it's also an upscaling dvd player as well so your dvds look hi def. I think I've said enough, just go and buy one!!! You won't be disappointed.

Bought the recorder to record digital programs on Freeview and that the recorder performs adequately. The drawbacks are its guidebook which certainly could have been written to be more helpful especially in setting up and the fact that playback is only for Region 1 disks. These days with extensive travel and ability buy items on the net from other countries Region1 only play back is a significant handicap

Are you interested in getting a brand new SONY PLAYSTATION 3 CONSOLE for next to nothing, or perhaps selling that console for a nice wad of notes with the Queen's head on them? Who wouldn't be?

The good news is that it can be done, more than once, and the first time you do this you can get it completely free. You can also receive subsequent PLAYSTATION 3's from as little as £5.

These are then yours to do what you want with them. Some people may offer them to a friend or family at a generously reduced price, but most will resell on eBay (or elsewhere) for a handsome £300 profit.

Hopefully you're eager to get started, if so, please read on.

You can be well on your way to getting your console in a matter of days if you're a gifted promoter. Most people however will tend to be well on their way within 4-5 weeks, and should have their gift within 2 months. Even if you do wait in the region of this length of time, think of what you'll get, or the value you'll resell for and you'll realise like I did that 1-2months isn't a long time at all.

Here's what you'll need to do:

1. Visit http://sonyps3giveaway.co.uk/index.php?referral=401280 (please paste the entire link into your browser) and sign up for a new account.

2. You will be given an account area which you will need to log in to. Once you've logged in, take a look at the offers available to complete. Many of these a free to complete, but some will cost as little as five pounds to do.

3. Once you've completed the offer, you'll see your account update (though this may take a day or two). After that you should start referring friends, family and aquaintances through your unique referral link. To get the PS3, you'll just need 10 new signups who complete an offer. They can also complete one of the free offers available and then go on to receive a PS3 also.

4. Got 10 signups? All that's left to do is log in to your account and order your gift. It couldn't be easier, you don't pay delivery charges or anything. Depending on when the next verification cycle is you could have your gift in as little as a few days, but no longer than 28days as with any order.

5. Happy with the process. You can now repeat it all over again simply by getting new signups. You won't even have to complete another offer yourself. And each subsequent PS3 you get you can sell for whatever price you choose, as anything will be profit!

Curious as to how this works?
Lets call the site that gives out the gifts the freebie site. We'll call the site you can do offers on advertisers. The advertisers will pay money directly to the freebie site for each potential customer they refer to them. That does not mean you are obliged to remain a customer after the free trial, that is completely up to you.

What's more is that I am prepared to stick my neck out here, and offer advice on getting referrals to those who sign up under my referral link, and complete an offer. Those people can contact me via eBay, and I will give the best advice I can on getting your gift as quickly as possible.

With the old DVD Player deciding to throw in the towel, a replacement was sought. The Philips DVDR5500 DVD Recorder was the first one i saw when i searched here and was bought near instantly. Good points about the DVD Player are that it's fairly simple to use, instructions are very good, High Definition is good, rather stylish and can play videos off Memory Stick and Camcorders through the USB port. Bad points are that it occassionally freezes, not true High Definition (like Sky Plus or Playstation 3), no HDMI cable included and only certain fie types can be played if watching from a Memory Stick. If considering one of these fantastic machines, meassure where it's going to go as it is pretty long and very wide! You won't be disapointed if you buy one.

  Freeview Phillips DVD Recorder
Review created: 02/04/08

I was given a recorder, which had a basic manual with it, not the DVDR5500, but a basic model. The recorder had inscriptions over it that said it was Freeview, and so did the box, but in fact the dimensions of the recorder were smaller than on the box and also there was no video plus on the remote. I could not find a digital tuner on the recorder, only an analogue.

I pointed this out to the retailer, who magnamanously refuded my costs including postage.

The standard facilities are very good, I particularly like the 2.5hr recording time option, something I've not seen on others. It has needed a reboot a couple of times, not good but tolerable. This seems to be more common on a range of equipment as they become dedicated computers rather than simple machines. The support from Philips, downloads and upgrades, appears to be good as well as easy to perform. However if you want something that works reliably out of the box you may need to look elsewhere, i.e. Sony,Samsung or Panasonic for example. The price difference is enough for me to choose this unit, and I'm happy at present to put up with an occasional inconvenience, I expect Philips will have it fully sorted in due course.
I was lucky enough to buy it as an ex demo unit, not that you would know from the condition it arrived in, only the tape on the box had been disturbed. I got it for about half retail price, and it came with up to date firmware and region free. A good machine if you want to watch region 1 DVD's, there are simple instructions available via forums on the internet for changing its region settings.
I do not believe that the disc runs all the time as has been said in some of the forums, maybe this has been fixed on a recent upgrade.
Once again, if you're a bit of a technophobe, and have a bit more money to spend then you would probably benefit from looking at other machines, I suspect this machine is a couple of more firmware upgrades away from being bullet proof.

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://kudosnetwork.co.uk/?ref=174 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.
