I'm a Pentax fan. I loved the old 35mm LX and when I had an eye operation and couldn't focus properly I bought an autofocus MXN. So I have a collection of K fit lenses. Then the digital age arrived and I bought a Pentax compact. Great little camera, 3 megapixels, but very little control and a 3x zoom with nothing by way of wide angle. Nevertheless, I was converted to digital. Then Pentax brought out their DSLR range and I very nearly bought a ist. Then a K110 and a K100. But I'm glad I didn't. When the K10D came out and I read the rave reviews in the camera mags it looked like the only logical decision. The kit lens offers a good wide angle and my other lenses give me 1.5 times their 35mm focal length. The camera itself is a great chunk of a solid feeling beast packed full of features. I've been playing with it to see what it will do and the results are superb. The battery life is impressive and I haven't recharged the battery after nearly a month. Ergonomically, it's great. The menus are easy to navigate. But the best feature is the TAv control that lets you set the optimum shutter speed and the optimum aperture for the shot and the camera works out the film speed to deliver a correctly exposed result. That, for all film users, is awesome. One day all cameras will have that feature. So yes. Go out and get one. It's a great buy - and I got mine from emilyandlilly who have an ebay shop. I worried a little about the purchase but didn't need to. Their service was fantastic - and at a price point about £150 less than the cheapest on the high street. It all came brand new and boxed in the original Pentax boxes.
So Pentax might have had a few years in the doldrums, but believe me, they're back with a great camera. And if you can get it for the price I paid, you've got a great deal. Read the reviews. It's a great camera.

What the Internet can't tell you...

I've been taking photos almost as long as I can remember - as a kid it helped that my Dad was a keen photographer and there was always a spare camera for me to take snapshots with. As I grew up I bought my own cameras (in a pre-digital age) and my skills evolved, by which I don't mean my technical abilities which anybody with a little patience can learn, but rather my eye for a picture and my ability to use my equipment almost like an extension of my own body...

When digital cameras began to be released onto the marketplace I bought a state-of-the-art (1 megapixel!) Kodak compact and, despite its woeful battery life and lack of manual controls, I could immediately see the benefits the new medium would have over film in the future. A couple of digicams later and the future has truly arrived in the form of the Pentax K10D!

The K10D is my first DSLR (but not my first SLR) and the reasons for buying it over strong competition from Nikon/Canon/et al were primarily those which seldom seem to get a mention in reviews; ergonomics.

Every review I have read in magazines and online seems to concentrate on technical aspects that - if truth be told - are only noticeable under laboratory conditions. The greatest influence on the outcome of any picture is not the camera or even the lens, it is the person holding it. This is why the K10D shines in a very crowded and competitive market place. I had the good fortune to be able to borrow a K10D along with a Canon 30D and a Nikon D200 before I actually took the plunge and bought one, whilst the Canon and the Nikon were undoubtably excellent cameras the K10D was the one that immediately felt the most useable. Controls were well placed and the grip was extremely comfortable and within a few weeks of buying it I've pretty much forgotten that I'm using one of the most complex and powerful pieces of photographic kit ever made, instead I just concentrate on taking photos in exactly the way I want them - something the K10D does astoundingly well.

This really is the sort of camera that I couldn't have imagined existing in my wildest dreams as a youngster, yet here it is made real. I'm not going to suggest that you ignore all of the technical specs that are plastered all over the web, however, I would suggest that if you get a chance to borrow one for a day you should do so. Compare it to the opposition and see if you don't reach the same conclusion I did - that this is a camera that really has been designed with photographers in mind rather than marketing departments, company bean counters and people who spend all day taking shots of test charts in their bedrooms... ;)

Oh, and as this review is also supposed to cover the 18-55 lens I ought to just say that it's pretty good. It's not the very best that money can buy (what kit lens is?) but if you're moving up from a compact camera then you will find the results absolutely astounding.

If my review has helped you decide to buy a K10D and you find yourself bidding against me on an elusive Pentax Limited lens, please take pity and let me win!

Cheers,
Paul (hefty2002)

Good camera, works with other Pentax lens, saves you money when changing over from film. Love it because you do not get that owful delay which some other digital camera fall down on. Also like to look through the view finder instead of taking the picture with your arms out straight looking at the back of the camera on the LCD display.
Overall very please with the camera, easy to use and takes great shots, worth all the money. New version coming out the K20D, will be a long time before I change to that one, as I am very happy with the K10

  Great Pentax camera

It's absolutely great fast camera, which is water and dust proof. I absolutely love its simple and easy acces menu. It's suitable with most of old type lensen, with Pentax bayonet K mount. I've decided to buy that one, because it offers a lot more functions, then Nikon and Canon for the same or sometimes lower price.

This Camera is awesome, i can understand why it was voted best camera by practically every publication. If your a keen amature this is a must, as well as the fully auto settings it has a great on board guide to assist with manual shooting. The K10d has an anti shake feature which works great when using zoom shots, the features are endless and to many to mention, it will be great fun taking time to explore all its capabilities.

I have long been a Pentax fan having had a number of SLR's. I had 6 lenses all of which I can use on the KD10. The camera is easy to use and the menus clear and easy to navigate. The quality of the photos are remarkable and the camera editing feature are amazing and again very easy to use. The software was easy to install on my computer running under Windows XP Home and at present I am sorting my way through the intricacies of RAW. I am off for a holiday to China in April and my KD10 will be my constant companion.

I would recommend this camera to both new and experienced users. The many features available for you to set aperture, speed and film will more than satisfy the most demanding of users but the auto facility also produces fantastic photos.

This is definitely the best camera I have ever purchased

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://kudosnetwork.co.uk/?ref=174 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.

  why to buy it?
Review created: 05/07/07

The best mass market Digital SLR camerar on the market?

We were looking to replace out old Pentax SLR camera, and with a fairly decent collection of lenses I was hoping I could transfer them across. It turns out I could, and what is more because the K10D has a built in anti-camera shake function, the value of the lenses has been doubled. It truly is a fantastic camera, it takes great quality photos, is extremely solid and sturdy, and offers everything you could possibly want. And if you've read around it's cleaning up on the awards too. Couldn't recommend it enough.
