I bought it because I didn't have any muic by a guitar shredder. I needed to broaden my horisons. This CD did just that. It is very remeniscent of Bill and Ted.
An absolute epic of an album with Vai taking you through all aspects of emotions...reminds me of my youth and i still cant get enough of the rich sound this album creates. " I wrote this song for all my friends, when i grow up i want to be a famous rock n roll guitar player!...Love it....and this is my whammy bar...and its gonna be real loud!!!"
Anyone thinking of buying this, as an introduction to Steves work will be more than happy with the buy. This is his first well produced album, his earlier works were done without the aid of a great mass of studio help, and although the rawness sounded great, its over shadowed sound wise, from the albums from here onwards. This album is a complete album for the listener, it has energetic rock tunes, ballads, the full works. He plays along side Stu Hamm on bass, who needs no introduction, but this is really a great album from Steve. Enjoy listening to a great composer, and musician.
I brought this CD because I've heard that it really is a 'Must Have' for any steve vai fan, and that certainly is true! One of His definitive albums, showcasing Steves virtuosity and annoying ability to play guitar (nobody should be that good, its not fair!!) Sometimes weird and quirky, always soulful and full of emotion that tracks on this CD are great to listen to a must for any rock/solo guitar fans!
Hey - after playing this - you can't top it! it's that good! fantastic!
Got it off ebay as a gift - as it's Steve Vai! was close with bidding in end but was chuffed when won and couldn't wait to receive, and wasn't disappointed when received/played cd. It's absolutely brilliant/fantastic, Steve @ his best, fantastic tracks the only disappointment I had was when the cd ended! you just want it to carry on playing! it's that good, absolutely brilliant, loved every minute, what a sound to the ears!! how does he do it. Excellent, highly recommend you try this album out & if you like Steve Vai don't think about it just bid/buy it! ;o)
