It is often said that purchases prompted by a disaster are the least considered and consequently the poorest in terms of value for money. Those thoughts were a factor when we pondered on what to do when our daughter managed to push our television off it's stand. The obvious solution would be to buy a flat screen television but it seemed that to get something outstanding you had to pay a fortune. A study of "Which" reports helped, in terms of quality, Sony and Panasonic seemed to dominate both flat screen and Cathode Ray Tube models; a remark that the latest technology perhaps didn't perhaps produce a better picture prompted a search on ebay. A Panasonic TX-36DT35 36" TV soon became a short listed item and varying prices emerged. Within 24 hours we'd bid and brought a set for £150. With the price of sets still falling the value for money element is always going to be questionable but as I look at the incredible picture this not a factor, it explained why people were prepared to pay £2500 just a couple of years ago. It is a big set, in volume this not a problem, tuck it in a corner and it doesn't dominate a room but, and this is a big but, it is extremely heavy.
