Process of elimination.

The first digital camera I bought, about six years ago, was a simple Kodak that did the basics, and had a 3X zoom. Not being particularly camera savvy, I thought it quite handy until I bought a trade magazine. The technology, it seemed, was improving, much as computer technology had been, and I realized there were cameras available with greater capabilities than my Kodak. I sold it on eBay and put the money towards a Fuji I'd seen with more pixels and 8X zoom.
Really, for my purposes, I had reached my level, but I kept an eye on the auctions, as you do, and found a camera with 12X zoom, a Panasonic Lumix FZ5. I learned a bit more, but eventually concluded that it was more camera than I needed, with its gadget bag of spares and kit. I looked round for a camera that had 10X zoom, the optimum for my pictures, and was simple to carry around and to operate. Panasonic had just brought out the TZ5 (1st in the line TZ1) so I read up on that but decided against it on price (then £300+). Going back to the reviews I found that the TZ3 did as much as the new model, only lacking one or two improvements that really meant nothing to me. So, reasoning that by this time the older TZ3 must have dropped in price I trawled eBay again. I found the camera here under the price I was happy to pay (Buy it Now). I noticed it was a refurbished camera, but the description told me all I needed to know and with a seven day return deal I went for it. It's an excellent camera I can carry in my pocket (though of course I went back to eBay and found a smart leather pouch) and which does everything and more that I need from a camera.
Fellow eBayers should note, patience is not a virtue of mine. In the old days I chucked away so much stuff I could open a shop. Nowadays my worst failing is that I tend to put my items up for auction with a low Buy it Now just to get them out of the way. In other words - I'm a bargain hunters dream!
