DVD recorder is superb value for money
Review created: 10/07/08

I have bought this recorder to record from my Digi box HD recorder, which only has a scart out.

I have 'archived' several series of programs and one neat feature of the recorder is the recording quality. For a kids series I have used Long Play, which enables 6 hours of recording, enough for 12 episode of this program. The playback at this quality is a little grainy, but when getting this much on a single DVD they has to be a compromise.

Setting the recorder to SP a 4.7GB DVD will allow up to 2 hours. The playback quality here is absoluelty perfect. Great for films where ou want a bit more quality.

The recorder also drops in automatic chapter markers at around every 7 minutes, which is actually more helpful than it sounds.

Once your recording is on the DVD you can then name each recording, and the DVD itself, to make recognising the playback tracks easier.

This DVD recorder is now very affordable, from around £40, and it offers great value at this price. There are many features of this recorder that I have not used but I decided on this model because of the wide features it has, giving me the option to expand my use later on.

  Replacing old DVD Player
Review created: 08/07/08
by:

The old DVD Player decided it was time to retire! The first port of call was E-Bay (where else would you look) We looked at several on offer, but decided on the Phiips. We found that it was far better than the last one. We are highly delighted with this purchace, and I can safely say that the Seller is 100% genuine

  PHILIPS DVDR3480/05 DVD Recorder
Review created: 04/07/08
by:

It is what it is, a low end DVD recorder. Looks wise it's nice, slim and pretty. The functions on the recorder are quite tricky to figure out. Trying to record from sky was a nightmare and the picture quality was poor at best. The player is already starting to show signs of age and is stuttering on long DVDs. The player is loud when a DVD is fist put in but quietens up once the film is acutely started. Overall its all right for a first try at recording DVDs but don't expect anything great of it.

So far so good, very easy to set up and simplicity it self to use. Good quality playback. If you want something you don't need an IT/engineering degree to use then this is the one. Much improved from our older recorder.

  PHILIPS DVDR3480/05 DVD Recorder
Review created: 05/06/08

This product is brilliant, it does only like quality DVDR's though, but apart from that being able to connect straight to front panel for camera and USB port is a major plus, as I transfer 8mm, video 8, hi8 and mini dv onto DVD for my customers. The USB port it an excellent idea especially with built in software for reading abundance of Video formats, I bought a pen drive for transfer, and for the effort of waiting three minutes to save film from PC to pen drive it is well worth it to watch movies on large tv screen instead of PC screen.

I use this to record gameplay from my free PS3!
Review created: 19/05/08
by:

Are you interested in getting a brand new SONY PLAYSTATION 3 CONSOLE for next to nothing, or perhaps selling that console for a nice wad of notes with the Queen's head on them? Who wouldn't be?

The good news is that it can be done, more than once, and the first time you do this you can get it completely free. You can also receive subsequent PLAYSTATION 3's from as little as £5.

These are then yours to do what you want with them. Some people may offer them to a friend or family at a generously reduced price, but most will resell on eBay (or elsewhere) for a handsome £300 profit.

Hopefully you're eager to get started, if so, please read on.

You can be well on your way to getting your console in a matter of days if you're a gifted promoter. Most people however will tend to be well on their way within 4-5 weeks, and should have their gift within 2 months. Even if you do wait in the region of this length of time, think of what you'll get, or the value you'll resell for and you'll realise like I did that 1-2months isn't a long time at all.

Here's what you'll need to do:

1. Visit http://sonyps3giveaway.co.uk/index.php?referral=401280 (please paste the entire link into your browser) and sign up for a new account.

2. You will be given an account area which you will need to log in to. Once you've logged in, take a look at the offers available to complete. Many of these a free to complete, but some will cost as little as five pounds to do.

3. Once you've completed the offer, you'll see your account update (though this may take a day or two). After that you should start referring friends, family and aquaintances through your unique referral link. To get the PS3, you'll just need 10 new signups who complete an offer. They can also complete one of the free offers available and then go on to receive a PS3 also.

4. Got 10 signups? All that's left to do is log in to your account and order your gift. It couldn't be easier, you don't pay delivery charges or anything. Depending on when the next verification cycle is you could have your gift in as little as a few days, but no longer than 28days as with any order.

5. Happy with the process. You can now repeat it all over again simply by getting new signups. You won't even have to complete another offer yourself. And each subsequent PS3 you get you can sell for whatever price you choose, as anything will be profit!

Curious as to how this works?
Lets call the site that gives out the gifts the freebie site. We'll call the site you can do offers on advertisers. The advertisers will pay money directly to the freebie site for each potential customer they refer to them. That does not mean you are obliged to remain a customer after the free trial, that is completely up to you.

What's more is that I am prepared to stick my neck out here, and offer advice on getting referrals to those who sign up under my referral link, and complete an offer. Those people can contact me via eBay, and I will give the best advice I can on getting your gift as quickly as possible.

  Philips DVDR3480/05

I like this machine's versatility - the fact that it can record on virtually any format DVD, it can play DIVX movies, it's multi-region hackable and it can transfer stuff to my PC (well, my laptop at least).

I love the fact that I got this wonderful box from ebay for £20 less than my local supermarket was charging.

Two things I'm not keen on - the aesthetics of the box and the zapper. These are pretty minor. I bought it to look at what it plays not at itself and the zapper is at least an improvement on the one for the Cyberhome 1600 which it was bought to replace.

Choosing the DVDR3480/05 was a no brainer - features and cost meant that nothing else came close.

  Philips 3840/05 DVD Recorder
Review created: 11/05/08

I like the eases of use, quite simple to install if going from sky or direct from the T.V. Unable to install using Sky, Home surround dvd player and T.V. Fantastic for downloading from camcorder, and ideal for converting video tapes across to dvd. (beware copywrite infringement, if for personal use and You own the video I presume it's oK). Quite, uncomplicated, does what it says in the manual, have only tried dvd+r but states can use -r, So much better than shop home brands i've tried and retuned.

Review created: 01/05/08

Thought it would be a good product, it might be but i've had to exchange it 3 times to get a machine that sort of works.
Wish i had went to Tesco, as they are only £40 more but with a no quibble money back gaurantee.
Not worth the effort buying this.

Very easy to use with excellent output. What I most like is the fact that it plays back DivX Ultra CDs so I now have the option to select chapters from the onscreen list.

  DVD RECORDER

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I purchased this recorder because it was not a digital since I do not get a good digital reception, and I do not have sky.
I realise we will be going to lose the terrestial ia a year or two,but since the recorder only cost a little over £50 it is a worthwhile purchase.
It works fine and is easy to use so I am very happy with it.

Compaired to previous cheap dvd recorders I have used this is excellent. Very easy to use and I have had no issues making recordings, I mainly use this for recording from sky.

The quality of the signal passed through the machine to the tv from the sky box is excellent, no issues with color/widescreen flags that I have had before with other cheapo brands.

  DVD Recorder Philips DVDR3480/05
Review created: 05/04/08

I needed to replace my existing Liteon DVD recorder and looked for a similar replacement ie Liteon.
I found a fantastically cheap place, relatively local, that auctioned DVDRs at a very reasonable price and were available to collect, which saved quite a bit of money on postage costs.
I checked their auction on the Philips DVDR and then checked out that model on google sites - I had learned already that some of the cheap DVDRs on sale were JVC ones which had a dreadful reputation for jamming the DVD inside the machine - which indeed, it seemed, had Liteon.
The value for money, compared to, for instance, Tesco, Asda etc was phenominal, but of course it doesnt really come with much of a guarantee - but my experience is that machines usually pack up just outside the guarantee period. The machine itself is not particularly different from my old one, and doesnt seem to have an extra bells and whistles, but with technology changing so much, and not wanting a hard drive DVDR just yet, the Philips suits me just fine right now
