They grew up in the violent immigrant ghetto of New York's Lower East Side: Max and Noodles, Cockeye and Patsy, Deborah and Fat Moe. They grew up on the streets and they grew up fast. Fighting their way to the top of the heap, they took a vow to stick together but that's not how things worked out. Leone's commanding epic traces the destinies of four men from childhood on the streets through their violent rise to power and maturity during Prohibition as fully fledged hoods. De Niro is magnificent as "Noodles" Aaronson, one of the four, forced by murder and betrayal to flee New York in 1933. When he is mysteriously summoned back in 1968, he discovers that the tragic and bloody events surrounding his betrayal are not as they once seemed...

One of the greats.It is a must to see the acting is superb the story line keeps you guessing till the end.Please Please watch this film it is a long film but worth every hour.The BEST film ever.A+++++

Absoluye classicthis is a must see film, packed to the refters with great actors and great moments, the story covers an entire lifetime of a groups of friends, from being cunning street urchins to their rise to power via the sleepeasys they owned and people they blackmailed. The loves and losses of the main characters is pivotal to the story. It has me gripped all the way through and the music is deeply haunting......my vhs copy is just snow from being watched so many times but a recently purchased DVD will put that right....kids times for bed....its Dads telly time now! Get a copy now

) top gangster film, very underatted. as good as the godfather trilogy. Great performances from DeNiro and Woods. Find yourself four hours to sit down and watch this all time classic.

AN EPIC NOT TO BE MISSED. TRULY A MASTERPIECE, BOTH IN THE STORYLINE AS WELL AS THE ACTING. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT DENIRO STARS IN, HE'S ALWAYS FANTASTIC. A CLASSIC AND A MUST FOR YOUR COLLECTION. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This film in my opinion is a classic.
When Sergio Leone originally shot and edited this movie it came in at over 4 hours ! The studio wanted a 2 hour movie but after several heated discussions with Leone it was upped to nearly 3 hours.
Leone himself was not happy and up to his death he swore that the film was never seen as it should have been.
We will never see Leone's true vision of this film but the film as it is now would be damn hard to beat.
The backdrops are breathtaking,the characters deep and meaningful and of course it is directed to the usual excellent standard Leone adhered to.
Robert De Niro and James Woods give two stand out performances.
One not to be missed.

great classic film waited for it to come out on dvd and not disappointed, the music and scenes seemed very true to the era my favourite film af all time .love to watch De Nero in films can do no wrong .
