Audio CDExcellent music by Vangelis. This album is a must! There are the well known soundtract such as Chariots of Fire and Conquest of Paradise(of the movie 1492 Christopher Columbus - Conquest of Paradise - excellent movie).

) Excellent album for those who love Vangelis's music. The album refreshes the mind and takes you back to his heyday when "Blade Runner" and "Chariots Of Fire" were contemporary classic films.

Essentially a merger between Vangelis' two previous 'greatest hits compilations, 'Portraits' and 'Themes' with a couple of new track thrown in. Therefore a great starting point for anyone who wants to sample Vangelis' music of the first time, while taking in the well known themes. I say well known because much of this music will have seeped into the consciousness via various film soundtracks but repays extended listening especially as a 'mood music' experience. Sometimes the sound palette can sound a bit limited but each track is different and the signature tune 'Chariots of Fire' never fails to cause a swelling in the chest!

Vangelis is without doubt one of the best modern composers in the world. 'Odyssey' is a 'Best of' album. or in this case 'The Definitive Collection'. All the best tracks are on it and two Bonus tracks with his former partner Jon. (I'll find my way home & State of Independence)
I judge an album, even greatest hits albums by the amount of times i'll hit the 'Skip' button. I never hit it when I listen to this album, especially when the Musician is a versatile as Vangelis. The list of tracks are as follows.
