Priest at full tilt, exceedingly listenable, great concept cd aka The Wall.Cannot fault this releae in any way.Great value as well, not skimping on giving the punter a great long listen. No expense spared for the listener.Awesome!!!!!
this cd is the lasest from judas priest and its different from their other material.the songs are more thoughtful and symphonys with the guitar rythm still there but the anger and raunchyness of past priest albums is not.the album has its fair share of slow songs that go on a bit,but the faster songs make up for this. halfords voice is its usual screaming self and that has not changed thank gosh but i think this is the only thing that is stopping this album being put in the section saying 'what were they thinking'.its a bit like mettalicas S+M album with the symphony orchestra background too.
what can i say judas rock once again mixing classical music with hard rock never fails , but the priest have added what can only be described as the best guitar rifts in a long time and with rob,s voice belting out the lyrics this album is a instent rock classic . one hell of a rock opera a must buy ;-)
This album is about life or just a long forgotten prophet in which everybody can see a part of his life. This is not the end of the road just a look behind and a brilliant tale. A tale which reminds us that there is is so much in the future... Can't stop listening it being so young and old simultanieosly. Recommended for every Judas Priest fan, just listen it several times.
with vocalist Rob Halford being a short-lived exercise in nostalgia need look no further than 2008's NOSTRADAMUS. This epic two-disc concept album represents a bold move for the leather-clad metal gods. With his previous lyrics for such Priest classics as "The Ripper" and "Beyond The Realms Of Death," Halford has already demonstrated a flair for dramatic storytelling. NOSTRADAMUS takes the life of the endlessly debated 16th-century prophet and propels it into a body of music that incorporates orchestration, sweeping keyboards, Latin-sung vocals, acoustic guitars, and (gasp) choirs. In the process, old-school Judas Priest fans are served a plentiful dish that picks up where 1990's PAINKILLER left off.
This would be a good cd if it were Dream Theater. But it's not. Where are the guitar riffs? What's with the keyboards and accustics? Bring back Ripper Owens. Priest has gone down hill since Rob came back. It's not a "Bad" album. It's just not Judas Priest! If it were not for Halford's distinct voice, I would have sworn that there was a mistake. Where are the blistering riffs? Is Dave Holland back on drums? Sure sounds like it- or perhaps Scott forgot to bring his double foot pedal into the studio. WAY TO MELLOW! I understand the whole "concept album" thing, but you can pull it off without wussing out. With 23 tracks on 2 discs, only 3 or 4 tracks caught my attention. Has age caught up with The Priest?
