I just bought the Nikon D80 18 - 135mm lens camera on ebay, It is working well, sad thing is that I made mistake when put my offer, because the seller was base out side UK, I had to pay extra duity. Therefore my advise to other bidder is that they take in to count this additional cost to the bidding price. ta
The Nikon D80 feels good and the controls are well arranged after one has taken time to get used to the layout. The photos are of excellent quality. This camera has the full flexibity to be used fully automatic (as a point and push) or to be used fully manual with after shot edit facility. The menu allows many functions but to take full advantage of it one needs to spend some time experimenting.
I cheated a bit when deciding to buy this model as my son had done a lot of research before buying one and I had the chance to use his before I bought mine. I would allways suggest you hold a camera before buying it. Even great cameras feel good to some and akward to others.
The 18 - 135 lens gives a good overall coverage and is quite adequate for general use. It does not have a macro All in all not a cheap camera but this level is not aimed at beginers and if you have some experience and are looking to upgrade in quality of camera or pixels then this is a serious contender
This is my first experience with SLR digital and I am not disappointed. I have a pocket digital but these really are just for holiday snaps, they don't have the same feel as SLRs. What prompted me to buy a Nikon? I used to be quite an active amateur photographer and own a couple of good Nikon film cameras and quite a few lenses. With the new Nikon I can still use all my lenses. Yes, some won't meter but I can use the 'sunny 16' rule to good affect. Why the D80? I would have liked one of the professional ones but I am not a good enough photographer to justify the expense. The D80 is the next best option, it has the same great Nikon feel as my other cameras I have, which is difficult to quantify here. The D80 also has the aperture and speed controls at my finger tips when using the manual or semi auto modes. I find this is much better than setting these in a menu. There are also a lot of other clever features that I am still exploring, so maybe I should rewrite this after 6 months when I would probably give a less biased view. But in the end, I guess I just like the overall usability of Nikon cameras.
The quality of the final result relies as much (or probably more) on the lens rather than the file size. The D80, while seemingly quite complicated, is quite easy to get used to. You can choose between three file sizes depending on what output size you intend to use. The lens means the results are always good. The camera in auto mode is very user friendly, and there is plenty of scope for the more adventurous. Expensive but good quality.
I love this camera because of the excellent picture quality, ease of use and top range build quality. The purchase price was superb and dispatch times from the good old U.S.A or the best I have ever experienced. Would put Europe to shame. I decided to buy this camera because I wanted to try my hand at photography again. No messing with darkrooms and waiting for development times to see your results. Just press the view button and bingo your picture it there . Don't like it, delete it and try again until your heart's content. Make Mr Bailey jealous.
How refreshing it is to receive Excellent Customer Service in todays modern age. Their advice was honest and friendly and when a hitch arose they were the ones who did all the ringing around to rectify it, at no extra cost. I bought a Nikon D80 18-135 Kit, The price was pounds cheaper than any rival, I will certainly be putting my business through them in the future, just need to decide what Cam corder i want. Nikon has quite a reputation in the field of photography. I have bought a few cameras and the Nikon D80 has by far been my best buy. It is expensive but definitely worth the price. The lenses and attachments are reasonably priced and easily available. It is user friendly and the features are easy to understand. Great picture quality and overall a must have camera for those of you interested in photography. A++++
I wanted a rugged quality camera for wok and pleaseure. this camera fits the bill. It has all the sophistication of the old D100, is light and very user friendly. I have found the automatic focus and options operate as described in the literature. It is well worth the bit extra cash for an upgrade from the D40x especially when purchased on the internet saving hundreds of pounds. I have used the D200 which is excellent, but the D80 fits the bill at half the price. I have never taken so many family photos it is a pleasure to use. The editing facility is great
The camera it's just great, very good resolution of pictures, practical and easy to use and the combination with the 18-135mm lens works very well, very versatile lens. You can shoot a wide range of distances. Very happy with it.
The Camera and lens are excellent. I would have preferred a written handbook and instruction guide rather than the computer download and I have now purchased one from Magic Lantern Guides ( Lark Books ) The downloa of Picture Project 1.7 has been impossible and I am glad to have my Coral Programme
Good value for money, solid reputation, backup of lens and accessories range. Would like to see "live viewing" and perhaps anti-shake features as in new Olympus and others, but again, not crucial. A mix of the good D200 and D70. A bit heavier than the Canon D30, but not a serious problem. As a life-long Leica and Pentax shooter, it's not the fast camera for quick and discreet handling, but for all round professional use and advanced amateur, good price and build.
The product is absolutely fine. But, I'm not impressed with the service provided. The seller do not take credit card directly and using PayPal which is troublesome to register. So, I asked my friend to buy it for me with her PayPal account. The process was alright and has been gone through, but they suddenly said no as the postal address doesn't match the billing address!! So, we took the funds out and pay by cash. However, the seller and PayPal had triggered the bank transaction. The bank imposed a penalty charge of £38 on my friend's bank account for unpaid item!! I'm paying something extra, why should I rate the service is good?! I AM DEVASTATED!!
I bid for a Nikon D80 camera and lens because the price was about half the retail price so i always like a bargain. Unfortunately i was outbid but recieved a Second chance via E_Bay the next day.I was so excited that i said yes to the second chance offer. I was asked to pay via electronic money transfer to the sellers bank.Again never having a problem with my purchases with E-Bay i arranged for over £300 to be sent to the sellers bank and advised the seller that i had sent the money. This was July 13th and i have not had the goods or had any contact with the seller even that i have sent him several E-Mails.I advised E-bay and trading standards and the local police but still have no camera or my money back. i think it is a very poor show from E-Bay and does not give me or my friends any confidence on future purchases. Thank you for giving me this chance to give you a review for this non purchase but i do not expect you will show it on your review pages. thank you stanthejetman.
first of all ,the reason i went for the d80 was because i already had 2 nikon lenses and did not want to see them go to waste. now the camera is not something you'll master in a week or 2,so allow yourself plenty of time,as the camera is capable of so much.i took it to italy last week and could not put it down as it kept amazing me and maTde me want to explore it further. To finish ,nikon always made good cameras and this one is no different so if you're thinking of jumping into the DSLR world this would be the best introduction.
