I bought this camera just over a year ago and have found it faultless. It is simple to use and lens changing is quick and easy. I have upgraded to the the DH2 which has an array of features but in the end the picture quality from the D70 is as good. I used my D70 for sports photography and mostly used the shutter priority mode ( fast speeds ) with some astounding results. I give this camera 5/5.

camera feels good in your hands and all features are well placed Have owned in the past Nikon film cameras with Auto- focus lens and I picked the D70 as it accepts my zoom 70-300mm AF lens .Have always found that Nikon lenses are excellent and the camera bodies can take the odd rough handeling in their stride.A good second hand D70 is a good choice for keen photographers to get into digital age.I also pleased with the Nikon software to down-load my photos

I bought this camera for my son who is interested in photography. He absolutely loves this camera - took him only a little while to get the hang of it. An excellent camera. Good battery life, lightweight.

The Nikon D70 Digital Camera with 18-70mm Lens kit was great buy.
Not the latest D80 - but a really good DSLR - just Google it and read the reviews.
Photo quality knocks my Dimage Z1 into a cocked hat and I thought that it was good.
Saved a bunch of money by making a careful buy on Ebay.
Would I recommend it - YES YES YES

  Nikon D70 SLR

If you are looking for a first time digital SLR then this is a must, easy to operate at the basic settings but giving you proffesional results. The only draw back in buying a camera like this is the cost of the many extra you can buy. UV Filters are a must if only to protect your lens. This is a big investment so be prepared to pay out to buy the right equipment to protect it. I have had some great fun with this camera and managed to get some breathtaking shots.

The body of this camera is very nice and I think the lens has a good range for a professional beginner. Needless to say the picture quality I have enjoyed so far has been excellent and the user experience very satisfactory. I am exceedingly pleased with this camera and lens!

D70 king of cheap (but not nasty)

Probably one of the best value second hand cameras available. Like others, I had avoided going digital as I was unsure as to the quality of final prints. However I bit the bullet and bought a D70 body, principally as I already had a Nikon 28-100mm AF Zoom bought with an F55 as a kit. I have NEVER regretted my purchase. Perhaps if one were to blow up the images to very large magnification the details may not be as good as fine grade film but for all normal purposes it is easily as good and when you consider you are no longer going to have to invest a fortune in film, and processing images which could be substandard, it makes total sense. For "happy snapping" you can set it to a lower resolution and have the ability to take truly ridiculous amount of pictures on your memory card but, even at the highest resolution you can still take a large number - and no having to change films halfway through an event! Only downsides are the inbuilt flash which is adequate for most small indoors events but not much more but that's in line with other makes, and the newer, polycarbonate lenses. The mounts are extremely fragile and so far I've knackered two 28 - 100mm zooms by knocking tham against walls. What can I say, I'm careless. Certainly my old lenses woulld have taken a lot more abuse, but then again my old camera bag weighed over a stone (around 6 and a half Kilo's). Build quality of the camera is certainly better than the majority of Nikon film cameras of recent years apart from the professional models but given their price no surprise really. I used Nikon many years ago principally Nikon F1's and Nikkormat FTN's. It's just like being back there again and I am encouraged to take more photo's than I have for years. My best investment for years.

The D70 is a fantastic camara to buy for its price.second hand a good condition
Nikon D70 must be one of the best buys second hand. Nikon build and durability quality is second to none for 25 years I have had nikons they kick top brands like canon in to touch on there build and durability alone .
The D70 is packed with pro feachers. even its 3.5 frames a second is stuggled to be beaten from some of the latest entry's. Dont be put off buy its
6 mil mega pixels alot of camaras boast 10million but the image quality does not come close to the D70s. The D70,D70S replacement D80 really is nothing more than a slight upgrade from the the D70 A larger display compared to the D70 probably its best improvement
If you purchase a D70 apose to D70S make sure the camara has the firmware update.the nikon lens range will give you a great selection.the Quality of Its lenses are top draw. to end my review
If you are thinking about getting into photography you would have to pay upto £650 to £700 and in some cases more to get a camara to out perform The D70
It may have been discontinued but many a camara company would love to produce a camara with its functions and quality of performance. I still keep my D70 as aback up for that very reason.

Versatile high quality rapid autofocus adjustable metering, inexpensive nikon vr lenses available . The introduction of the 10 megapixel D80 has encouraged people to upgrade making this a highly satisfactory first rate quality camera to buy inexpensively , and it is professional quality . I have run Nikon cameras for 30 years and vowed not to go digital til I bought a Minolta A200 ; I upgraded to this faster digital camera and haven't looked back .

Superb Nikon D70s Digital Camera with 18-70 DX LENS

We purchased this camera because I already owned one and my wife was so impressed she had to have her own, the main reason for buying Nikon is for the past few years we have had a number of Nikon Digital cameras from the coolpix 950 through to our present 2. Ease of use is the main reason and close is the reliability, the terrific choice of lens to give a wide range of use, the ease of changing these lens, the wonderful array of adjustments for the amateur like us or even the professional make these cameras an absolute must, the introduction of the new D80 has brought the D70s down in price on ebay that we can all own the very best for a reasonable price
