Massive Attack - Mezzanine (Limited Edition) (CD 1998)

If you can imagine the worst day you have ever had at work? times that by two.
If you put this album on and play it (not ear-bleedingly loud) you will feel the stress just lift.
This must be some of the finest work that massive Attack has ever written and
recorded.
The track teardrops has been used for its versatility in so mant different t.v ads that the younger generation are also being drawn to this album.
My verdict is 11/10. Buy this album and you will play it until it will play no more.

Bristol based Massive Attack have always provided us with a few timeless classics, (Unfinished Sympathy being their most recognisable)but their third album, Mezzanine is their most consistent in terms of production values and styles.

'Teardrop' is probably their most haunting track of this album and still leaves the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. Another track, 'Inertia creeps' uses a clever mix of traditional arabic drums and horns - please forgive the fact that I do not know the names and terms used for foreign instruments.

The great thing about 'Mezzanine' is that they have this uncanny knack of blending all these musical styles and genres with such effortless ease, that they never sound out of place, whether they are samples or 'live music'.

If this review doesn't recommend the album enough, I don't know what will.

I have all the Massive Attack albums and I love each one, but I think Mezzaine has something for you no matter what mood you are in. Not as chilled as 'Protection' but has some chilled tunes in there.

Can't really say I have a favourite track as I love them all, but standout tracks would be 'Angel', 'Dissolved Girl', 'Teardrop' and 'Inertia Creeps'.
Its dark, moody, and atmospheric. It has something to sing along to, it has something to nod your head along to, good for driving to, good for sitting and chilling to.

I was one of the lucky ones this summer having seen them live and I must say they are up there with Faithless as the best live act I have ever seen! They were absolutley awesome! If you ever get the chance see them live gooooo!!
Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins is outstanding on the album and was just as amazing live.

If you like Leftfield, Portishead, Faithless & Primal Scream you may just love these Bristol Delights!
