Before we had Meet The Fockers
Meet the Parents is our first glimpse into the World of sweet, always well meaning, often misunderstood, comical, hilarious, hap-hazard, christianly & surnamely challenged 'Gaylord Focker'.
Love this film because Gaylord doesn't try to be funny or embarrassing but things - LIFE just happens to him and we can see a bit of him in ourselves. Can't help but think... WT*? How? Why? Did I really just say that? Did I really just DO that!
Funny background info to the making of this film: In order to get the surname 'Focker' past the Censor Board, they had to prove that the name actually existed and was being used by real people. Took a while but somewhere in the depths of Canada they found several very proud Mr, Mrs, Master and Miss's Fockers!
Bravo I say! If you can stick with a name like that, you can do anything!
