Having researched the lower priced end of the market, not wanting to spend silly money, I decided to go for the MyGuide 3100.I must say I have not been disappointed. I have both the MyGuide and TomTom software loaded on mine so it's easy to compare both. The MyGuide software will not disappoint you, It's every bit as good as TomTom. Faster at finding satellites, and route recalculation, also various modes from Fast Car, Lorry,to Pedestrian . TomTom's POI are much better and you can update via downloads.I much prefer the MyGuide for every day use and only use TomTom for it's POI. Only problem I've had was that battery didn't hold its charge, not much of a problem when in the car. I emailed MyGuide who sent a link, with a job number, and a free return label. UPS picked up one Friday at 15.00hrs and returned it following Thursday morning. New battery fitted at no charge, no postage charge, not bad service considering it went to Germany and back. Would recommend to anyone wanting a Sat Nav without spending loads of money.
Great basic entry sat nav. Just plug in and play as everything is pre-loaded. Satelite connection and re-calculation of routes are very quick and accurate. Had no problems at all so far, but with all sat nav's, it is beneficial to use common sense at the same time as the sat nav.
Excellent item far superior to TomTom like the software but if you must you can install TomTom software but don't bother.Receiver is also compact & not bulky to carry in your pocket unlike some of the others
The hardware is average and seems good value for the money. However from my experience I would not have one given. After the first week, the Myguide 3100 I purchased is just scrap. In trying to update the software which is a year old I inadvertently deleted a licence file that I thought would have been write protected. I contacted their helpdesk by phone; they were not interested stating I had invalidated my warranty. I then sent an email quoting the serial number and explaining my dilemma and that the licence file relating to my serial number would have no value to anyone else. No acknowledgement after a week. I doubt Microsoft would have this cavalier attitude to their customers. There are several forums on the internet highlighting this problem. Therefore if you want a sat-nav with up to date software and a helpful helpdesk, give the Myguide 3100 a wide berth. Buy a sat-nav with a backup disc and online updates that are freely available. Do not expect any support or backup from Myguide and if you do have one, don’t touch the software.

hello wanted a sat nav on a budget. could not have made a better choice . with some research and help found out i could add a 2gb high speed memory card and use tomtom software, igo 6,7,8, the latest software. play movies and music. also could use original myguide software on the 256mb memory card. now have three or 4 different systems and speed camera updates which i can update and use all on the one satnav. what a great deal.
Excellent map system, a life saver fot those with general map ineptitude. Any location, country, postcode and dot on the map is on here & this was bought at a very resaonable price
What you get is a easy to use and very comprehensive bit of kit for very little money , This sat nav is almost on a par with far more expensive units costing in excess of £299 build quality is excellent only downside is the voice could be a little louder but i by pass and transmit to the radio only £4.99 on e bay , I would highly recomend one of these units to anyone .
this is the best sat nav i have used for a while. it has everything that i need the display is crystal clear the instructions are good and it re-calculates in a split second.
