Phew, this double CD surpasses the original Foghat Live album recorded several decades ago, the two more recent lead players in Bryan Bassett & Charlie Huhn are excellent replacements for the dearly departed Lonesome Dave & Rod Price and this CD rocks from start to finish. CD 1 is the more straightforward and includes 9 tracks, including; Night Shift, Driving Wheel,Stone Blue and Fool for the City all recorded live in July 2005. CD2 includes three lengthy "anthem" versions of Slow Ride, I Just Want To Make love To you & Chateau Lafitte 59 Boogie which all clock in at just under 10 minutes each, the final track is particularly memorable as it includes an excerpt from "Savoy Browns infamous Boogie", California Blues is a track I have not heard before but rocks, the remainder of this CD comprises of seven studio tracks , mixing newer material; including 'Self Medicated' and early 1970's tracks like 'Trouble Trouble'. My copy was released in Spain on the Locomotive label and incorporates excellent packaging but no insert, I did not ever think the original Fogaht could be bettered but I have to confess this album proves the 'new band' have, Roger Earl & Craig Macgregor do still provide the Rhythm section and replicate the original late 70's sounds...this is a five star must!
