I held-off buying this album as the idea of JB material in the big band "genre" seemed vaguely ridiculous. (Other "oldies" like myself may recall Bernard Hermann and the NDO's bizarre renditions of chart hits way back in the early/mid 60's). I was therefore very pleasantly surprised as this turns out to be a first rate JB album. Jack's voice is as enthralling as ever and the arrangements are all really interesting and add another dimension to the songs - all of which will be familiar to any JB fan. For me, stand out tracks are Smiles and Grins which really works, Milonga and Consul at Sunset, with the huge We're Going Wrong a dynamic "tour de force". If you are a JB fan, buy this album and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. If your not a JB fan - buy it anyway!! AF
