This is possibly Maiden's finest live album ever. The tracks on this album are from the earlier albums (Number of the beast, piece of mind etc.). The opening track aces high really does show that Maiden are truly a live band and always have been. The 'duelling' guitars get better and better with each track and Bruce's vocals are as great as ever. There are some truly epic tracks on this album such as 'Rime of the ancient Mariner' and 'Powerslave' which make this live album stand out from all the others. The only thing that lets this album down is the second CD. The tracks on this CD don't seem to have the same punch and Maiden finesse that the first CD has. But hey there's only 4 tracks on CD 2. So I would recomend this album to anyone who loves early maiden... UP THE IRONS \m/

An excellent addition to any Irons fan CD collection. Maybe not so for the first time Iron Maiden listener with it containing less well known songs that the un initiated may not have herd of. All this apart it is highly recommended to any fan of Metal or softer Rock alike. (I am a bit predgudice being a 25 year IMFC member only getting this CD to try and preserve an ageing record collection). I hope you have many hours of pleasurable listening up the IRONS.

  Supurb Live Album!
Review created: 09/05/08

I had this album on vinyl when it first came out - and as an obsessed 17 yr old spent many hours working out the guitar parts for each of the guitarists. I had an old record player with a balance and volume control - crank it up turn the balance over and there I was - Dave Murray for two hours and then Adrian Smith. A fantastic live album - you could feel the excitement and atmsophere through the speakers with the crowd and the supurb musicianship of the band. Great tracks from the first 5 albums.
I had to have it again.

One of the top live rock albums ever
Review created: 03/04/08

Great live album from the monumental World Slavery Tour 1984-1985, recorded at Long Beach California and the world famous Hammersmith Odeon, this is Maiden at their absolute peak with all-time greats the number of the beast, the trooper, phantom of the opera and other great maiden classics.

A must have for any maiden fan

  Scream for me, Long Beach!!
Review created: 31/03/08

It's no fluke that Iron Maiden's Live After Death is widely regarded as one of the best live discs ever. The performances are excellent, with Bruce and the band on great form. The crowd is very vocal and very into it, which obviously helps and adds atmosphere. From the opening moments with the legendary Churchill speech, (which actually send shivers down me, just as he claims "We shall never surrender" and the band goes straight into Aces High) Live After Death is an amazing concert disc. On the second one (as this is a double CD), you also get videos and other added bonuses, which are great treats. I used to own this on VHS and from the first time i saw it, i knew it was something special. Now i've finally go it on CD, it sounds fantastic. Most performances are from Long Beach Arena in California, but with some from Hammersmith. There's no need for this to be a long-winded, over-the-top review - it's Iron Maiden, it's live, and it's pretty flawless. Nuff said.

I first owned this album in 1986, but my previous copy was eaten by our dog. I have been looking for another copy of this album for the last 5yrs, but didn't want to pay £19.99 for it. I like the fact that this album was recorded live and crammed with classic hits.

I bought this remastered cd to fill my collection, and for the second disc. When " Live After Death " came out in the 80's it was released on double Lp, in theroy giving 4 sides. When they released the Cd off it at or around the same,( can't remember, long time ago ) you only got 3 sides off the Lp on the disc, so you lost an entire side so be careful off which cd you buy depending on what you want. Plus I reckon its the best Live album they have done

Album notes
Along with Kiss's ALIVE!, Ozzy Osbourne's TRIBUTE, and Thin Lizzy's LIVE AND DANGEROUS, Iron Maiden's 1985 double-disc set LIVE AFTER DEATH ranks among the greatest heavy metal live albums. Most of the performances were recorded during an unprecedented quartet of shows at the Long Beach Arena in Los Angeles, CA, while several other tracks are from an earlier run of gigs in London's Hammersmith Odeon.Only Maiden's very best songs are included, and the performances are consistently inspired. Such popular favourites as "Aces High", "2 Minutes to Midnight", "The Trooper", "Flight of Icarus", "The Number of the Beast", "Run to the Hills", "Running Free", and "Wrathchild" are included. But as longtime fans know, Maiden has always been an album-oriented band, and many of the band's greatest tracks were not singles, as evidenced by such lesser-known items as the 13-minute epic "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", "Powerslave", "Revelations", "22 Acacia Avenue", "Children of the Damned", and "Phantom of the Opera".
