Kylie's best album [in my opinion] which I used to have on CD until it got stolen. Now just re-aquired it and still love it. Camp, loud and highly addictive. Great stuff...
kylie is one of these singers that seems to have been around forever,a lot of female simgers claim to be divas,to me she is up there with the true oldtime dives like shirley bassey & madonna,as for the tape it has songs that are timeless classics, this lady is a beautifull singer as this tape proves, and from an old fogey of over 60 this lady is A WOMAN OF OUR TIMES
In 1998, Kylie was dropped by indie-dance label DeConstruction after four years like a hot potato because some thought she had committed career suicide and this had been reflected in languid sales of the two albums and their singles she had issued on DeConstruction.
Obviously the [undeserved] backlash towards Kylie's "indie" persona taught her a valuable lesson. When lost, head back to familiar territory. This is just what she did with this, [and subsequent] albums. Symbolically dropping her last name, she re-enters the genre that made her great, and gave herself a sexy much talked about image to boot. Granted, the teen pop movement was [and still is]at its strongest in the new millennium, one could say she just had good timing, but this work is leaps and bounds better than her previous offerings to the dance music market.
Light Years is not just another dance-pop record from Kylie, it's a great collection of disco stylings and Europop kitsch. "Spinning Around" is a fun and string-laden declaration that she may have made a mistake but she's more determine than ever, and the Robbie Williams/Guy Chambers-penned "Your Disco Needs You" is probably one of the best dance songs of the last ten years. Arguably one of the best disco records since the '70s, this album is Kylie comfortable with who she is and what she's good at.
Kylie's comeback CD after a few years out of the lime light. A Very Good CD especially I'm spinning around which went to the top of the charts. Kylie sings exceptionally well and every track is a must Kids with Robbie Williams is also a great track and the title track Light Years. Kylie has never been better and I would recommend this CD to serious Kylie fans and anyone who likes listening to her music. Kylie has never been better and this is one CD I always play as much as I can.
I bought this item as i have a passion for Kylie and not so long ago i had a lot of items stolen from me. Long story, however, i lost all of dvd and cd collection within that so now i trying to rebuild all that i lost hence buying 'light years'. It has a lot fo my favourite tracks and if you like Kylie, go to your nearest tesco as they are doing their own albums of kylie and its 2disc and brill!!
key tracks.. spinning around on a night like this disco down im so high
after only moderate success with her last studio album, light years was a return to kylie's pop roots, and rocketed her back to the top end of the charts. the number 1 'spinning around' kicks off the album, with its catchy melody and lyrics quite fitting for the new era popkylie. 'on a night like this' does pretty much the same, and you cant help but know that your going to have a good time with this record.
this album has everything you want in a good pop album, from the hearfelt piano ballad of 'bittersweet goodbye' to the clubtastic usa single 'butterfly' and the rock edged duet 'kids' with robbie williams. not only did this album revitalise kylie's career, and the pop charts...you also get the feeling that kylie is enjoying herself for the first time, in a long time!!
I love Kylie but lost some of my albums when moving house, so I had to buy them again. This album has loads of funky tracks which will stay in your head for hours! Kylie doing what she does best!
For a long time I didn't get along with this CD. I think I was too much into other things at the time and didn't give the music the attention it so clearly deserves! This is my current favourite of Kylie's albums. It is perfect for summer, really upbeat with lots of fun songs, such as Your Disco Needs You - sadly not released as a single here. Standout tracks include Spinning Around, Kids, Loveboat, Koocachoo and Light Years, but there is not one single track that doesn't make me get up and DANCE! I challenge anyone not to feel happier after listening to this!
This is an OK CD with about 4 good songs on it. 'Spinning Around' is the best song on the album and gives a taste of what followed on the album 'Fever'. I actually only bought the CD for the song 'Spinning Around' that I was unable to find anywhere else, so I got exactly what I expected when I purchased this CD.
This is a great album but I have already got the same album, she is a great singer and in the future I might buy more of her alumbs and also I was thinking of going to see her in concert.
