Simply the best programme that has come out of the BBC for a long time, as I was a teen in the 70’s, I was hooked straight away.
I was amazed how accurately the programme makers captured the look and language of that era.
Excellent performances from all the cast, all the characters were believable and I could associate them with people I knew/know in real life.
Some absolutely cracking one liners throughout all the episodes
Both series included in this boxset, represents great value.
Some people were disappointed with the ending (Me included) but that does not detract from the prior episodes a definite one to watch and add to your DVD collection

Lives up to the hype!!I bought both series because of the reviews on TV and a number of my friends singing it's praises. It does not disappoint! Watching one episode and can't wait to see how it ends!!

Life On MarsA gripping 70's crime drama with a brilliant and original twist.
Sam Tyler is a contemporary Policeman who is used to following strict protocol in order to solve crime.
When he finds himself back in 1973 following a car accident, is he mad, in a coma or has he gone back in time. Which ever one of these is the reason he finds that in 1973 Police work is conducted a little differently.
The real chemistry is between Di Sam Tyler and his 1973 Governor, Dci Gene Hunt. A man fuelled by testosterone who does not believe in political correctness or gender equality. Hunt gets the job done and does not get held up, by red tape. As a result Sam has to try against the flow, to Police the only way he knows how.
Life on Mars is a masterpiece, emotional, humorous and a cleverly written police drama. The added aspect of Sam not knowing whether he is actually in 1973 is a credible twist. It is a twist that keeps you on your toes through both series 1 and 2 and is the reason why Sam Tyler strives to succeed.

Write a review on the cult of life on MarsIt's the box set that covers Sam Tyler and is a must for anyone that has fond memories of the seventies.
So many things on different levels all taking you back on the same journey.
As Sam recognises things you too will be remembering, things and thinking whatever happened to.....
If you like the Sweeney, you'll love the Gene Genie.

Life On Mars - Series 1 And 2much better quality writing than Ashes to Ashes. Darker storylines and more believable characters. I would recommend everyone rewatches this series to get a flavour of how good the original ones were. I do like A2A, but this seems to me to be much better quality TV. John Simm is very good and gives Philip Glenister a much better foil to work against

This is sheer class from start to finish..The acting along with the attention to detail makes it a thrill to watch..The only down side is the lack of beauty sleep due to the fact that as one epispde finishes you are left wanting more and hit the play button to continue............

) MISSED MOST OF THIS SERIES ON TV - BUT LIKED THE COUPLE OF EPISODES THAT I MANAGED TO CATCH. BOUGHT THE TWO COMPLETE SERIES - INTENDING TO WATCH IT THEN PUT IT BACK ON EBAY. -- HOWEVER, I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF EVERY EPISODE AND AM KEEPING IT SO THAT AFTER SOME TIME, I CAN WATCH IT ALL AGAIN !! --- BEST MONEY I'VE SPENT IN A LONG, LONG, TIME.

DVD is exactly as described, fantastic, thanks. You need to allow 2 weeks for delivery as being sent from abroad, this was stated on item but I didnt realise would take that long. However item is excellant and seller keeps in touch - a great person to deal with I would say :)

Life on Mars - Series 1 & 2Excellent acting from John Simms as Sam Tyler, the cop who is trying to do everything by the book and Philip Glenister as Gene Hunt the hot headed DCI. Series 2 has a few twists in the last episode. I also liked looking out for the few 'slip ups' made - like one of the episodes which showed a wooden door on which someone had carved 'Del Boy' (who wasn't around at that time).

This is the DVD of the best drama of the 21st Century, if not ever. All the episodes are included of the 2 Series and this is worth spending the money on. Lots of extras too, including cast interviews

I decided to buy this because I watched the whole series on television, and thought it was the best tele I had seen for "honestly" years.
It has everything in it, humour, sentiment, action and a great storyline.
It's so different to any other cop series. It is set in the 70's so is a little bit like The Sweeney with a big twist.
Sam is a police detective, who has a car accident in 2005 and wakes up in 1973. (But he's actually in a coma "back home") The police station where he works has turned into a 1973 cop station, with all the old type writers, no mod cons here. In between solving cases with his new boss (whom he has a love/hate relationship) he starts trying to unravel the reasons why he's been sent there. It's a facinating, enthrawling story which I'm sure will enjoy just as much as me!

Something of a rarity these days - an original idea for a drama series!! The script, acting and sets are suberb. After you have watched it once - watch again to check out all the background detail, such as the Number 6 cigarettes and Juicy Fruits chewing gum! The attention to detail is fab , obviously a lot of work went in to sourcing these items to give the series real authenticity.

I am delighted with this item as I usually am with e bay. I have been a member of the community for many years and now turn to e bay first for most things. However I am disgusted with one aspect, I bought some tickets in April for a Take that concert to take place in December, The tickets cost £170.00. I used pay pal thinking I was safe. The listing said the tickets would arrive 2 weeks prior to the concert i.e. early December, when no tickets arrived I decided to contact the member to no avail, he has changed user name and upon finding him discovered he has very bad recent feedback, It seems he has scammed many people out of a lot of money using e bay, upon trying to file a claim the system totally shut me out as the auction ended so long ago, also pay pal have ignored me and will not help for the same reason. It seems this person has found a loophole in your system and used it to scam thousands of pounds, I feel e bay are responsible for allowing this to take place and as such should refund my money. I have tried several ways to contact you but seem to face a blank at every turn you should at least put some information on such listings indicating that the buyer may not get the usual level of protection in such circumstances.
