Clint Eastwood at his best, here he captures the Japanese side of the conflict. In Flags of Our Fathers which Clint Eastwoods shows the American view of the Epic Battle to capture Iwo Jima. recommend both of these excellent films
Iwo Jima was one of a string of strategic Pacific islands that the Americans had to capture as the war with Japan neared its bloody climax. This remarkable drama, directed by Clint Eastwood - and a follow-up to his film "Flags Of Our Fathers", which told the story from the American viewpoint - tells how the Japanese defenders of Iwo Jima dug in and bravely prepared to fight to the death against overwhelming odds. A remarkable film and possibly the first since "All Quiet on the Western Front" to tell the story of the "other side" so sincerely and honestly.
