This is a fantastic camera very simple with great results and gives you the option of fully automatic or set up manually, battery needs to be charged out of the camera body on its own special charger this is a little more time consuming but once charged it has good battery life i recommend getting the crumpler case for the camera as it looks great and protects the camera well. all in all a great camera that looked after will last a lifetime.
I payed £181.00 for a leica camera and never recevid it and I am just a bit pissed off. I payed with pay pal and I clamed £150 back £30.00 out off pocket and no cameta
It;s the one with class amongst it's small digital competitors. Haven't yet figured out what memory that's still left to use. Reviewing the picture means a wait. Excellent battery performance. The RAW option is great. The manual controls give you more options. I have a digital ixus 900 Ti which I rate very highly but this little beauty edges it out especially on the video clips.
I knew it was overpriced and that I could buy the panasonic cheaper. It was bought for the looks, the specification and the software that encourages manual involvement. We have wrecked 4 delicate Ricoh compacts and are hoping for better!
Having trialed Leica binoculars the last few years and worked my way around a top range Minolta digital camera and having pushed this camera to its limitations, when I decided to trade up there was only one real option left - Leica D-Lux. The D-Lux allows you to go to the edge, to push towards your own personal limits rather than be restrained by your camera's limits! It is a professional's camera with every option you need built-in. It is also small enough to carry everywhere, on flights as well as strolls around the heath. What you see with this camera you get, the wide photo option means you record in a landscape exactly what you are seeing. Before this camera my panoramic views were lack lustre and required several shots - this captures the whole scene in one. Lastly, for all its sophistication its rugged and robust. On every count I find this tiny camera delivers. And my wish list of improvements: a longer battery life; charging directly to the camera rather having to remove the battery to charge it. Still, given the excellence of the results and the wide-ranging built-in options - this is small beer indeed.
Great Camera... but having looked at the Leica and the Panasonic LX2 unless you NEED to have the little red badge go for the Panasoonic. Exactly the same controls and build quality.
This camera has a quality feel and although whilst from a German manufacturer was manufactured in Japan I suspect by Panasonic as many of its features are similar. If I have one criticism of this camera it would be of its limit zoom which falls far short of the equivalent Panasonics times 40.
It has the best lens It was the right price It is compact It does various sequencies of pictures It fits in the pocket The soft ware is easy & user friendly The images are sharp It is simple to use It is not too heavy
The Leica D LUX 3 is an extremely good all round camera which is not to be confused in any way shape or form with the Panasonic DMC LX 2 which shares some similarities but is not the same quality build or finish and does not produce the same quality pictures. It is said of the DMC LX 2 that pictures taken at more than Iso 200 are not very good because of the aggressive noise reduction software Panasonic have installed. The same is not true for the D LUX 3 which takes very good pictures above Iso 400. The colour and rendition is always very good and Leica tune each lens to each camera to ensure perfect results every time.
I have owned a leica D-lux before the original one, and was very impressed, sadly it got stolen. Since then I have been using a Canon EOS 400D which is brilliant, but not so portable, and I wanted something small, yet advanced. This camera, is brilliant, with excellent control, and amazing build quality. High recommended.
