after being a big verve fan since the 90s i tried ashcrofts music about 2001,alone with everybody, at the time i didnt even listen to it a second time, so as far as i was concerned richard ashcrofts verve urban hymns was the begining and the end of anything good he ever produced................... i was deepley midtaken, after hearing this album, which i bought on ebay for about £3.00 my concept of his solo word has changed, i will be buying all his albums without a doubht, very pete youn like music, great
This album is pure class, memories of the legendary 'Urban Hymns' come flooding back. The vocals, ballads, lyrics are genius. Up there with my top 5 albums.
The boy Ashcroft still impresses with his 3rd solo album. Not the best of his albums but still brilliant(try "Keys to the world")I got this album to complete my collection again. A very good attempt by Richard Ashcroft and I noticed a wee bit of similiarity to his old style of his famous "The Verve" You can still progress Indie legend keep on rocking!!
If you have enjoyed Richard Ashcrofts previous material with The Verve, or his solo work you will not be dissapointed. Richard appears to write from the heart, and this a super album.
O.k. This CD is quite short, and not his best. I am probably his biggest fan and still felt that i should have this CD in my collection. I'm going to see him live for my birthday and wanted to make sure i knew all the words. Fans of Alone with everybody will like this album but won't rate it as his best.
I decided to buy it as a result of al lthe recent hype on BBC Radio 1 and after hearing Richard live on the radio - although I have to say I am really disapointed with this album. There are a couple of good tracks but the majority are boring, repetative and seemingly quite miserable..
