I bought this CD as I had the LP but had not played it for a number of years since getting rid of my old 'record' player, but it moved me as much now as it did 30 years ago! Having read the book many times, in my opinion Neil marries the music beautifully with the story. For me the almost hymnal 'Dear Father' and 'Be' are some of the most beautiful of Neil Diamonds lyrics and music.

This is not Neil Diamond as a 'pop' singer but as a composer of almost classical music to bring to life in music the book. HE has not only composed the music and lyrics, but become as one with the book to produce such a wonderful soundtrack.

This CD is pure genius on two levels, it has made my mom happy - as she had always loved this album, and now she has it on CD.
But more importantly - for those of us who have to listen to her music choices - this makes a nice change.
I believe Neil Diamond took a chance in doing this album, and it has paid off.

If you are a fan of Neil Diamond or any music of that era - then buy this.

This is a great Cd, melodic and moving especially so when you relate it to the story. So pleased to find it on CD as the old vinyl has given up the ghost!

I needed to replace my record collection so that I could listen to my favourite music in the car and was pleased to find this CD to purchase. I think that as these types of music get older, they are often more difficult to buy. Thank you.

A must for Neil Diamond fans. An incredible moving album that you will never tire of listening to. I have the original vinyl copy but had to have the CD.
