If you like typically English tales about sex romps, lust, lies and cheese among the higher class of society then you'll love this DVD. There is some well placed humour, though it can be corny at times but the intention is good. Adapted well from Jilly Cooper's novel, though not always true to it in places, we have the opportunity to both laugh and cry. Anthony Calf as Billy and Serena Gordon as Janey are the stars who shine for me, Serena bringing life to sexy siren Janey effortlessly.
I am a fan of the book 'Riders' by Jilly Cooper and was interested to see how it had been adapted to the screen. The DVD is of an ITV production made around 1994. The casting is not bad apart from Rupert Campbell Black. He is not the best actor nor does is he good looking enough - Jake is whey better looking by about 500 miles. The relationship between Rupert and Helen is not portrayed as it stands in the book. Billy and Janey are good as is Jake Lovell and Fen. There are some lovely shots of horses jumping. The most disappointing thing about this adaptation is that is changes so much of the book - they even change Sailor's name to Murphy!? Also so much is missed out! The end is different and Jake's affair with Helen turns out to be a set up!? Wierd or what. Its not bad overall, but I love the book and it only lets the book down.
sex and revenge is the basis of this film jake lovell and rupert campbell -black rivals since childhood fight on off horses for the gold medal at the olympics for showjumping slow in parts and ok acting 5/5 rating
A silly sex and saddles romp based on the best seller of the same name. Best things--MICHAEL PRAED (albeit he has what appears to be a hedgehog on his head); worst things--the wooden Arabella Tije and Marcus Gilbert, who was better playing a blue cgi enhanced devil in 1 episode of cult tv show Robin of Sherwood alongside Praed.
