Jacob Jensen T-5 Quint 1-Line Corded Phone

After searching for an appropriately business like corded phone for my newly established home office I was delighted when I came across this very stylish and suitably understated telephone by Danish designer Jacob Jensen as all the other contenders either looked too 'office grey’ or too flashy with far more features than I would ever use.
I love the way the receiver sits completely flush with the keypad section and the nifty way it’s picked up. Simply press lightly on the top section (marked 'press') and the lower section then rises planting the receiver neatly into the palm of the hand, genius!
The phone can be wall mounted or sat on a desk top, as mine, by attaching the very sturdy solid metal black stand supplied.
The LCD display is quite narrow and even with the tilt provided by the stand I find it remains difficult to read unless I more or less stand directly over it. There is no illumination and the information available is sparse, just the usual caller ID, clock, date and number dialled. To power the display a separate power supplied is included as are four AA alkaline batteries that fit it along with all necessary leads.
The electronic ringer has a pleasant tone and can be adjusted for volume, either high or low. The same ‘one or the other’ adjustment applies to the receiver earphone and the on-hook-dial speaker volume levels. Basic stuff, sure, but I think it’s enough to do the job without being gratuitous.
There are few other features so if you're looking for something from a sci-fi movie spaceship you best look elsewhere (try Argos). For those looking for something exclusive, classy and fad proof, look no further. As soon as I opened the box, felt the quality of materials and noted the meticulous attention to detail, I knew then I’d made a sound investment choice even before I’d plugged the thing in.
