When you hear Slash plays bluesy riffs on this albumn, be sure they are very dark blues. This is not 'my woman left me and I'm so sad'. there is plenty more attitude & anger on this.
If you like Guns, you'll probably like this effort! Mike Clink produced the album so the clarity is great and it's three part Guns anyway. Good rocking riffs and plenty of solo work so all round an enjoyable album.
For Slash fans this is a must. Its raw and bluesy, once you have got your head around the lead singer's vocals you will love this album. Definitely a grower, play it a couple of times, leave it a couple of weeks for the songs to sink into your subconscious, then go back to it!
I bought it on the strength of all the Guns and roses material, plus having the Velvet Revolver albums and reading a book about Slash I thought it was a necessary requirement for my collection! It was!!
Before the killer supergroup that is Velvet Revolver Slash got some G N R mates and ace singer Eric Dover for Snakepit. These songs are ace. Riffs to the max and hooks to die for. Check it out at all costs. BUY BUY BUY.
I really like this album, it is not quite as cohesive as the later Slash's Snakepit offering 'Aint Life Grand' but still a worthwhile addition to any rock collection. My favourite songs are 'Lower' 'Take it Away' and 'Neither Can I' For some of the songs on the album I personally don't think the vocalist Eric Dover has the unique voice of Axl Rose or Rod Jackson, to accompany Slash's amazing bluesy riffs and the only thing that lets the album down is a greater emphasis on lyrics than harmony on a couple of the songs, however, despite this, I still love this album and I really recommend adding it to your collection.
