Whilst now exactly an accurate rendering of Anne Rice's novel of the same name, it manages to conjure up the romance and imagery of the book.
Tom Cruise was heavily slated by Rice's fans when he was announced as the face of Lestat, but he manages to bring the Vampire alive, pardon the poor choice of words.
Undoubtably the best Vampire film ever. Superb acting from Tom Cruise and Brad Pit, with excellent support from Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, Stephen Rea and a very young Kirsten Dunst. You should also keep a look out for a cameo from 'Trigger' from 'Fools and Horses'. The plot is brilliant and follows the book by Anne Rice with very little left out. The Sequel 'Queen of the Damned' (a fangtastic book) was a bloody awful film, if you'll excuse the pun, and should be avoided at all costs. None of the original cast and low budget specials turned it into a mockery of the original and unbeatable Interview with a Vampire.
i really enjoy a good vampire film and they dont come better than this! unlike some of this genre it has a gripping story line and top class acting. my only nag about this film is open ending and the fact no sequel was made.
I have read almost everyone of Anne Rice's books. Even those under different names. But none of that happened until after I watched this film. I loved this film so much. I believe it might have been the best acting of Tome Cruise, Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas. Many say that it is easier to watch the movie than to read Ms Rice's books. I believe that the movie is a great way to introduce you to her books. It is a must see!
Superbly well acted by Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Kirsten Dunst (especially as she was only a child in this film, she carried her part off brilliantly). I don't think of it as a scary movie, cos it isn't frightening. I have watched it many times over the years and still find it very enjoyable. The plot basically, is that Tom Cruise is a very old vampire and has been around for god knows how many years. Brad Pitt has lost his wife and is in the extremes of despair. This is when Tom Cruise decides to bring him into "his" world, by nearly killing him by sucking his blood and then revives him by giving him a choice to suck his own blood, which turns him into a vampire and so the film evolves right up to present day. A visually beautiful and atmospheric film. An excellent movie for all vampire buffs. Hope you enjoy. xx
This is another fantastic film from the Anne Rice collection and a definate must to watch! (having watched it nearly 100 times myself!) The characters are fantastic and are strong both Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are suited to the rolls of Loui and Lestat and a young Kirsten Dunst Plays Claudia wonderfully! The story line is strong and the settings are great and it tells the epic tale of a search for their own kind,Where they meet the lovely Armand Played by Antonio Banderas. There is far more to it than that so you must see it!
I love how brad pitt makes the vampire race so convincing to real life it seems that all the vampire wannabe's get all the stuff from this film its amazing yet the run through of the years is too fast for me its it would be better if they had gone over two hours more to make the scenes more blood thursty
