Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone (DVD 2002)

I decided to buy this DVD because my husband had just finished reading the book to our 6 yr old son who had enjoyed it so much he wanted to watch the film(both did actually!!).
It was a very good film,with brilliant special effects,great actors,excellent story. It is rated a PG which was fine for our son but i wont let him watch anything older as i believe it gets slightly more scarey.
He is working his way through the books so anymore PG's i shall be buying!
Throughly recommend!

My Sons original DVD broke and he loved it so much I bought him this copy as a replacement. I would recommend the Harry Potter DVDs and games to anyone, not just children! It has kept my children entertained for hours, which can't be bad. A 5* DVD.

love action films,and this came up to all our expectations,bought it to make up the set on dvds,the dvd was sent in excellant condition,still in the origanal wrapping.

this is a magical adventure film, highly recommended viewing. its fantastic storyline and a good cast will keep all ages entertained.

I love the Harry Potter films & find they follow the books as closely as possible rather than using "artistic licence" which I hate.When I read a book & enjoy it I am usually disappointed when I see the film because a film director wants "more action".I want to see the book I've read on screen not a directors interpretation of it.The author J.K.Rowling,I believe,insists that her books are not messed around & I for one am delighted by that.I can watch these films anytime & am gradually replacing my video tapes as I find these deteriorate.I have all the Harry books & am rather sad there are no more planned.I apologise to all Dickens fans but I find his stories depressing & the only film of his work that I've watched from beginning to end is Oliver.

having just finished reading all the harry potter books i felt that it was time to watch the movies and boy i was not disappointed it was brilliant great cast the the three heroes and teachers but the three actors who stole the film for me wasn't the children but richard harris, robbie coltrane and alan rickman what more can i say about a great film

Whether or not you have read the books makes no difference. The movie is a excellent watch. Well worth the time and money.

For all you Potter fans it is a must to see the film for children and adults alike. The characters and places that you have read in the book magically reveal themselves on the screen. I personally found that they were exactly as I had imagined them to be, which is not surprising considering the close involvement that Rowling had with casting and scenes. The film lacked some of the pace that you read in the book but was still good viewing. I only spotted one difference with the book but this did not detract from the film or story.
An enjoyable film to watch but perhaps not suitable for younger children because of the content of some of the scenes which could be frightening.

I love Harry Potter. I can watch it over and over again and never bore of it. I also prefer Dumbledore in the first 2 films.

Bought the DVD as I'd worn out the VHS! great for all ages, my 2 year old loves it too.

I bought the film as it was the only one i did not have. The copy i bought was in verry good condition. I enjoyed watching the film.

I have read the books so wanted to watch the films. The books are excellent so the film had a lot to live up to. The actors are excellent exactly how i imagined them to be and although the film misses out alot from the book it still an excellent film. Brilliant quality !!!

I'm a huge fan of harry potter, and this is one of the best.

Harry Potter, although you may think that it's a repetitive story line is in fact the opposite. Very well written and played by the cast, you are drawn into this movie and made apart of it. One that you can watch with all the family over and over again.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone is the first of the Harry Potter films. I am an avid Harry Potter reader and watcher and listener(even though I am a Grandma!)
I had all of the other films as DVD's,have the books, and have the books on DVD to listen to - so my set was incomplete without film number one.
I like the HP series because there are always new characters, suspense (will Voldamort kill Harry???) and the characters are very well portrayed.
I often watch the films over again when I want to relax as the characters fell like old friends now, and I've watched them grow up (sad old biddy you may say!)

This is an excellent film and I am very happy with it.

This was the first of the Harry Potter Series of films released in DVD format and was one of the full set which I purchased for one of my great grandchildren and other members of my family to enjoy.

An excellent e-bay purchase which has already provided much pleasure for all who have watched and enjoyed both the story and special effects incorporated in the making of the film.

I bought the film because I had read the book. Excellent film and very true to the book. Visually the film outstanding with effects being used to their full. The acting and character portrayals were also extremely good.

A wonderful film for children and adults

typical fantasy film bought it for my 4yr old daughter who thought it was fantastic and has since talked me into buying the others. i would recommend this for children but if they are young watch it with them as some bits are scarey. you wont be disapointed, its brilliant performance throughout by all the cast.

great family film and a well done remake of the superb books. I enojoyed pretty much all of the film, as it keeps you at the edge of you seet. Good use of humour as well. Very hard to dislike.
