I have been a Bruce Springsteen fan for many years so thought it would be nice to have all his best songs on one CD. I had actually forgotten how good some of the songs are and it is a great CD to play in the car. As soon as you hear the first few bars of "Glory Days", "Born in the USA" and "Dancing in the Dark" you know that it is Spingsteed ! As good today as it was in the 70s and 80s.
A trip down memory lane !!!!!!!!!All his best numbers are there, and it makes for great listening, just like it says on the title of the CD. Ive gotta say, after buying his NEBRASKA CD for my daughter , which Ive just reviewed, this is like the sun coming up in the morning !! Im happy I bought it and shall enjoy listening to it until my daughter gets her hands on it, when without a doubt it will disappear without trace.
Shame how you dont seem to hear Bruce Springsteen music, so when I saw this CD and read its content, I just had to have it. Saw Springsteen in a concert many years ago, and he is absolutely fantastic as a performer, the show just goes on and on. Much of todays music is about image, gorgeous young things bopping about giving it all they got, and in my humble opinion, talent they dont have. This guy has lots of talent and I feel that if his music was played more often, he'd have quite a big youth following. My son of 23 is now a keen fan. More talented musicians to listen to please.
I have always liked Springsteen and some of his older songs remind of times in the past. I was glad to see that certain tracks I really enjoy were all on the one cd as well as some I had not heard before. It is now getting played to death!
Any compilation of greatest hits is bound to include one or two not so great songs and to miss out on a couple of one's personal favourites, and this album is no exception. But it is a fair mix of Springsteen's best work and strongly recommended.
I bought this CD because of Chapter Two in Nick Hornby's '31 Songs' where he enthuses about Thunder Road. I'd never bought any Springsteen before. Anyway, this album gave me a chance to catch up with him.
I love most things he does. I only had this album on cassette tape and wanted to put it on my MP3 player hence I bought it. Now he goes everywhere with me. A must for all Bruce fans.
