A great gangster film, it took the gangster genre to a new level.

It has been described as a masterpiece and deservedly so.

The realistic language, ott violence and abundance use of drugs may not be to everyone’s taste.

If you like the Sopranos episodes you will enjoy this film, clearly some of the concepts for the Soprano evolved from this film.

As many members of the cast later appear in the Sopranos “Coincidence? I think not”

Plot Summary:

Depicts the life local boy Henry Hill and his friends as they progress through the hierarchy of the local mafia gang.

Henry Hill’s opening remark is; "As far back as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a gangster."

The 2 disk DVD version is better, as this single disk is one of those 'double sided' DVD’s

Superb product, new sealed and well packaged, a classic film in its own right. If you haven't seen this then this area of film making history has passed you by and you have seriously missed out on legendary acting.
I highly recommend anyone to see this for the pure quality of the late millenium film making talents that are few and far between nowadays.
Go on, do yourself a favour, rent it, buy it, whatever, but make sure that you make a date with it.
Best listened to in the quite and dark, if you are not of nervous disposition.

Go on, enjoy it, you know you want to, you know you have to!

  These Fellas are so Good.

My personal all time best gangster/mafia movie, each of the actors and actresses plays a perfect re-enactment of how it was like to be involved with the mafia. Joe Pesci plays undoubtedly one of the most feared men in mafia movie history, with his psychotic ways for such a small man, he is faultless. Ray Liotta's best movie role to date by far, and for De Niro, what can I say, you get what is expected, a exact characterization, its almost as if Pesci and De Niro were actually involved with the mafia at one time, what with the way they portray themselves on screen in this movie.
People usually choose the Godfather movie or movies as the best mafia flick, no chance in my eyes, Goodfellas is top notch.

Probably one of the best films of the 20th Century & as an insight into the workings of the Mafia it's right up there with Godfather I and II. Based on the story of ganster turned informer Henry Hill, Goodfellas is a gritty and witty film that highlights the glamourous side of organised crime as well as the negativities and the very real dangers involved.
Liotta, Pecsi, De Niro, Sorvino and Bracco all turn in excellent and very believable performances; Pesci in particular as the psychotic Tommy DeVito ("Funny how?").
The great soundtrack is also proimient and accurately follows the times from the 50's to the 80's. Is is particularly poignient in the aftermath of the Lufthansa heist. A film that is watchable again and again.

Seriously overrated, slow burner, plotless gangster film, not bad but lacks any real punch.

Sure their is violence, drugs and all that jazz, but isnt this customary in all ganagster films, in my opinion, i dont rate goodfellas as highly as it is regarded and i am quite fond of gangster films, i would say it is better than scarface but not as good as the departed

  Goodfellas (DVD 1990)
Review created: 08/03/08
by:

Based on Nicholas Pileggi's book WISEGUY, Martin Scorsese’s GOODFELLAS is a wry, violent, and exhilarating film about the life of Henry Hill, an aspiring criminal who ends up in the FBI’s witness protection program after testifying against his former partners. As a poor Irish-Italian growing up in 1950s New York City, Hill (Ray Liotta) rises through the ranks of his Brooklyn neighborhood's organized crime branch, and with money from the mob he begins living the good life, complete with a beautiful bride, Karen (Lorraine Bracco), a fancy house, and the best seats at the most exclusive restaurants. A botched robbery lands Henry in prison for a brief period of time, and when he gets released, his reckless infidelities and drug abuse damage his association with his adopted family. Scorsese’s film is a visual and sonic onslaught, featuring a brilliant pop-music soundtrack and stunning camera work--including the infamous Steadicam one-take that introduces the audience to the Copacabana’s patrons. He uses the songs to infuse a breathtaking, invigorating rhythm into every scene. As the psychopathic Tommy DeVito, Joe Pesci delivers an unforgettable performance that is alarming in its cold-blooded callousness, helping to cement GOODFELLAS’ place as a classic portrait of life in the mob.

  Goodfellas
Review created: 24/02/08

Martin Scorsese's 1990 masterpiece GoodFellas immortalises the hilarious, horrifying life of actual gangster Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), from his teen years on the streets of New York to his anonymous exile under the Witness Protection Program. The director's kinetic style is perfect for recounting Hill's ruthless rise to power in the 1950s as well as his drugged-out fall in the late 1970s; in fact, no one has ever rendered the mental dislocation of cocaine better than Scorsese. Scorsese uses period music perfectly, not just to summon a particular time but to set a precise mood. GoodFellas is at least as good as The Godfather without being in the least derivative of it. Joe Pesci's psycho improvisation of Mobster Tommy DeVito ignited Pesci as a star; Lorraine Bracco achieves a career-defining performance as the love of Hill's life; and every supporting role, from Paul Sorvino to Robert De Niro, is a miracle.

If you haven't seen it, see it today. If you have seen it, why not buy it?

There have been so many bad gangster films in the past ten years. Watch Goodfellas to remind yourself what a great one is. You know what to expect, but you get much more. The only bad thing about Goodfellas is it spawned so many pale imitations.

Maybe it's not as good as The Godfather, but then, what is?

... Funny? Funny how?

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone

Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.

What is to like about a gangster film? It is just full of people getting shot, smuggling, money and sex. Yep, refrase... What isn't there to like about a gangster film? :)

Goodfellas is a classic, with a fantastic cast - De Niro, Liotta, Pesci and more. If that isn't enough then the price of this DVD has to be worth it! It so cheap now!

Goodfellas (DVD 1999)

THIS IS a awesome film, but when uou get a robert de niro film, violence....more violence and so forth, the scenes are shocking, the story is superb, the life style of the characters show through, this film is among the best, the story itself is based on the 1930-1980 set in america. gangster style, the film will have you gripped straight away a very long film short of 3 hours approx, this is one to your collection, definitive 21 film.

5/5
