What can I say that has not been said before? The harmonies and tunes are great, and soothingly familiar, while some the lyrics are sardonic and coolly savage. Brings back to me my youth, and the music is still spine-tinglingly good.
Years ago I had every Elton John CD on vinyl, but I never did complete his collection on CD. Ebay gives me a wonderful way to fill the gaps! Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is in my opinion one of his best selections of music. Funeral for a Friend is excellent, of course Candle in the Wind is superb, but my favourite tracks are Grey Seal and Roy Rogers! Buying CDS on Ebay is brilliant - terrific prices, excellent quality and how else could I track down the missing CDs?
My 4 year old granddaughter heard yellow brick rd on the radio and just kept asking me to play it again . i explained that i couldnt play a radio tune again., so i bought the cd on ebay, great.
Bought it because its my first early memory of liking Elton John- My dad gave me his copy and i loved it from the moment i listened to it. I was only 12!
Captain Fantastic was Elton Johns best album ever, Yellow Brick Road is a close second. I only like early Elton (1970's), before he and Bernie started to make all the American drivel they now produce. Take a listen, you may enjoy it!
The lyrics on both albums are brilliant, every single one a seperate story of their experiances and a window into their lives as they were struggling to recieve the recognition they diserved.
great value cd. So good to hear it again after all these years, my late mother bought it for me when it came out in the early seventies and it got lost in one of our house moves. it is still one of my favourite albums.
I bought this cd (originally was a double vinyl album with 17 tracks) because I think is a great work because each song is a portrait or a musical picture for example the masterpiece: "Candle in the wind" dedicated to Norma Jean (marilyn Monroe), but here Elton John sings about sex in "Sweet painted lady", about cinema in "Roy Rogers" and "I´ve seen that movie too" or travel in "Jamaica jerk off", a reggae song or about music the fantastic "Bennie and the jets", "Your sister can´t twist" or "this song has no title" and a very important testify in "Social disease". In a few words this album is well created by Elton John and Bernie Taupin a must for everyone who loves pop, because this is not a brick in the wall of pop music this is the door to go in.
