So wanted to view the film again and love the humour. Am I sad or?????? Who cares I have the DVD and when we get there with space technology I have the DVD.... CONFUSED??? So am I!
Great film for adults and children alike, the effects are great as is the line up of actors. I can whole heartedly recommend this film as I've had to buy it on dvd due to myself and our 7 year old wearing out the video cassette version!!
Sigourney Weaver as Gwen, a bimbo if you can imagine it. Totally Wow !!!!! Tim Allen, Alan Rickman ,play two totally beleveable and wonderful characters
My son and I love Sci-Fi and we had seen the film on TV once. We thought it was really funny. So when my son said he would like to have the film on DVD I looked for it on Ebay.
I first saw this film a couple of years ago and lost it to my ex. As a life long fan of Star Trek and the ilk, I fell in love with the film after just a few minutes. It is a total mickey take out of any television sci-fi series.
Wonderful performances from Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman just add to the enjoyment.
Take pretty much any sci-fi cliche and it is here. Fantastic special effects, far better than you would expect from a comedy film... almost worthy of Star Wars!
If you still aren't quite sure I would recommend taking a risk. You won't regret it!!
'Galaxy Quest' couldn't be better. It's not a mockumentary, it's not a Star Trek parody. It's pure comedy based on the Star Trek legend with excellent actors and absolutely brilliant production.
The visuals are magnificent. You would expect nothing but mediocre stuff for a space comedy, but this is not the case with 'Galaxy Quest'. These are the best effects for a space movie, since 'Starship Troopers'!
The story is also very original and interesting. Not only jokes on thin air, but a great story nonetheless. The triumphant ending is beautiful, it elevates you! In fact, it would easily compete with the some of the best Star Trek stories of all time.
I bought this film for the fact that I wanted to give it as a present. I took a week to arrive. This worried me as I thought I was not going to be able to give the present in time. However, it did arrive and I got an apology for the wait. The seller gave me a reason for the wait: he was moving house. Due to the other feedback scores on his area, I'm not sure wether this is true or not. But I have taken it on board as true for now and left him positive feedback. Thankyou for the item but PLEASE for your own good, send it quicker in future.
A great spoof of sci fi films like star trek. A great story and hilarious in places. a film that you can watch over again. Brilliant characters and aliens. Excellent
The price was fine, as for my item. I purchased from this seller after reading the feedback. I do not deal with anybody that has been giving neg feedback. I also read what has been left by previous buyers
This is the best spoof ever. I love SciFi in general and Star Treck in particular and just loved the humour and insanity of it all. Ms Weaver does a wonderful send up of herself - and if you love scifi and have a sense of humour you will LOVE this one. A*********
Galaxy Quest is a spoof but very well done. I have watched it several times. Very good story, very funny, top stars. The idea of TV stars saving a planet. Very good.
A top quality film, especially for fans of sci-fi movies as it is the ultimate take on such genres. Tim Allen is excellent in the lead role, with great performances from both Sigorney Weaver and Alan Rickman. It has to be one of my favourite films of all times!
I lent my copy of Galaxy Quest to a friend, and never got it back! So a replacement was a must. Both my husband and I adore this film. It's funny and clever and doesn't take itself seriously. It's a great film. I love the characters, and would have loved to see more of each of them. The concept of a bunch of actors actually managing to save the Thermians is brilliant, as is the depiction of the "fans" of the show. I've never yet made it to a convention, but it's exactly how I think it would be.
This film is just a fab way of spending a Friday Evening. It doesn't require any thinking, just turn it on, and pass a couple of hours. 10 out of 10.
Galaxy Quest is fantastic - not just a spoof on Star Trek (with excellent actors) but a good story in its own right. Maybe they should recast Star Trek and start again!
Saw this film a while ago on a plane back from San Francisco - quite an entertaining way to lose an hour or two. It works on the premise "what if someone saw "Star Trek" (or similar) and believed it was real. A group of ex "stars" in a long defunct SciFi series are approached by such Aliens. It takes them time to realize they are the real thing and leads to them realizing saying the words and twiddling the false knobs is not the same thing. A great example is them trying to leave the space station and ruining the paintwork on the space ship. The whole ensemble are great even down to the "ensign" who is always the one to get killed when landing on strange planets.Sigourney Weaver is the crumpet who just repeats the captain's orders and has certainly built up her part (or should I say cleavage). A nice touch is the involvement of a group of teenage anoraks who know their way around this ficticious space ship. Even though its a theme on a one joke premise I loved the whole thing - a real space romp done with some style and wit.
The entire cast milked every cliché superbly. Rickman was supreme, is there a film where he doesn't steal the show? Tim Allen at his 'home Improvement' best, Sigourney very animated just for once, not to mention sexy! the minor actors supported the 'stars' excellently. What's more to say, see the film, it knockc spots off any other send up I've ever seen.
Forget all those si fi space adventure programmes and films. Galaxy Quest takes you out there in a blundering style more likely of the human race. An excellent comic performance by the one and only Sigourney Weaver.
