Reason for purchase being replacement for Nikon 3100 as it uses Compactflash memory. Excellent results and as good as a Digital SLR, and goes up to 6MP.
Point and shoot, and auto focus is very good, but sometimes have to switch to manual for distant shots. Which is also a problem as you have to check that you are on auto before shooting. Battery life from 4 AA rechargables is very good and only need one spare set. Would recommend camera for back up to SLR.

The best digital camera of its time Fuji s602z

This camera is a brilliant novice camera it does it all except make a cup of tea, the picture quality is great and the ease of use is fantastic. The flash can be used in one of two ways e.g.normal and muted using the flash while it is down, and a seperate flash can be used by attaching a hotshoe one, (dont know the technical term) I had the s602z then went onto the S5000 and they only get better. I checked all the reviews and they were all giving both of them a minimum of 9/10

A great choice if you can get it for the right price
Review created: 17/08/08

If you want to progress from the simple point and shoot cameras that proliferate on the market nowadays, a good second-hand example of this camera would be ideal. Between £45 and £60 seems to be the going price on Ebay - mine was £51 including a 2x lens adaptor for extra telephoto length. Other extras could include extra memory, wide angle lenses, tripods, carrying cases etc.
The camera itself is simple to operate. If you are used to a cheaper camera, you can start off with using it on the "AUTO" setting, when it will work just like a simple camera.
Once you're used to that, you can start to control things yourself, to make more artistic used of its controls. Focusing, shutter speed, aperture, flash settings can all be controlled independently to increase your creativity.
If moving up from a cheap camera, you will notice a huge increase in picture quality - crystal clear images and none of the discolouration sometimes noticed in cheaper cameras.
The zoom is excellent - and with the 2x adaptor means you can get up close and personal - although you will need to keep the camera very steady or use a support to avoid camera shake.
The camera can take rapid photos - the gap between frames being about 1/3 of a second - none of this waiting 3 or 4 seconds between shots.
With two lots of loadable media you can get upwards of 800 good quality shots, and a single charge of the batteries is good for about 250 shots.
Now the criticisms - the flash needs to be "clicked up" manually, it does not cut in automatically as it gets dark. This can be annoying if you need to quickly take a night time shot and forget to click up the flash - an opportunity could be missed.
You are offered the choice between looking through the viewfinder or an LCD screen. The viewfinder is best for times of bright sunlight when you may have difficulty seeing the screen. The screen is good for when you have the camera resting in an awkward place or on a tripod.
The button for switching between manual and automatic focusing is on the left of the camera and acan easily be accidentally caught. You need to watch out for the "MF" symbol appearing in the viewfinder, otherwise you can end up taking a lot of photos out of focus before you realise.
The software should be included with your camera but is downloadable off the Fuji website if it isn't. This works well and has lots of features.

  Fuji FinePix S602 Zoom

A quality camera that has now been discontinued but worth keeping for emergencies. My original camera died due to my incompetance in putting the batteries in correctly. So I looked for a replacement and found one in excellent condition, well worth what I paid for it. I have upgraded to a new Canon 40D model, but still enjoy using my 602 Zoom whenever possible.

  Picture Perfect S602 zoom !!!!
Review created: 28/05/08(updated 18/06/08)

This camera is a very handy peice of kit, it is exactly what the amatuer photographer would require, as its manual is clear and easy to follow, the set-up mode is simple to use, and it uses two types of memory cards to save your pictures onto.
I have recenctly purchased two of these cameras, due to finding them very good to use for taking pictures of any type, I would recommend that you also purchase a uv filter and hood for the camera to, as they help lots with reducing the picture quality being poor.

I would recomend getting the memory card you require from Elephant memory, who also sell them on eBay.

The camera also uses four AA batteries not two as some state, may be a older digi camera, but very reliable.

Fuji FinePix S602 Zoom Digital Camera

High quality and easy-to-use digital zoom camera. I bought this as a replacement to my much-used original purchase.

The camera is slightly heavy on battery use and the worst aspect is the capacity to write-off the electronics by inserting the memory card in the wrong way. Best to buy the largest size memory card that you can and then not remove it.

  Fuji S602 Digital Camera
Review created: 06/03/08

I bought this for my second daughter, because I had already bought one for her older sister! They are really well integrated digital cameras, which can do so many different tasks with ease, and are easy to carry and travel with, a fact that appeals to my daughters. The S602 also has a small practical advantage over most consumer digis, in that it uses four AA batteries for power, so no wall-warts, or waiting for the blessed thing to charge up.
Highly recommended.

What a wonderful camera. My first ever digital was a fuji and i only ever strayed once. What a mistake. These camera's are second to none in there range and i have progressd from the s5000,s5500 and now my lovely 602z sorry 2 602s, i know quality when i see it. Battery wise I've never had a problem, i use high capacity 2700 rechargables and they seem to go on forever. I do understand there was a problem with some of them, but apparently easily fixed. Ithink you'll find one solution on this website.http://www.digsys.com.au/S602/S602.html Also very handy if ur adventurous. Well I've nothing more to say the camera never lies. Happy Shooting

I bought this camera as a replacement for a similar camera which was having focussing problems. Although my own was usable I took a chance on bettering it which paid off. In the past I had lost the odd decent shot which many a time cannot be repeated like for like as you know. So I obtained a very good replacement BUT, and I think this is within the scope of this report, although there was no camera bag ,leads, charger or batteries (it did have a strap) it did NOT have a serial number having been scratched out. Maybe worth a pre-purchase query next time.

I bought this camera to replace an identical unit that just stopped working. Fuji repairs are typically very high with no guarantee of turn around time unless you pay more! The camera itself is great, performing well under all conditions and the software package is excelent. Slight criticism centres on battery use and shutter activation. Batteries seem to drain quickly and shutter button could be more positive. Excellent movie mode with true sound and picture resoution.

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://kudosnetwork.co.uk/?ref=174 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.

  Fuji Finepix s602z digital camera

I was using a compact camera and was fed up of the camera taking a shot of my childrens backs as the crawled off by the time the camera had sprung into action. I read up on how to get a camera that took the shot when I pushed the button and not three seconds later, and it said I needed an SLR. So off to ebay I went and a couple of hours later had bought this model. Now I'm not a technophobe, but no David Bailey either. When I got it I was soo happy with it, I must admit to thinking it didn't have a flash until I read the manual and realised it popped up at the touch of a button! We had a few mishaps, but mainly due to our lack of knowledge, as the months have gone on I've had some cracking photos with it. It did feel very bulky after having a compact, but you really get used to it quickly, I've kept the compact but it doesn't really get used. If your a beginner there is an automatic mode to start you off, just remember, its not automatic flash unless you pop it up first, then the auto setting works great. the blurry pictures are few and far between now so I must be learning, thanks fuji, if I do upgrade eventually, I will be looking for the newer model of this. Hope this helps a bit, happy buying!

Rugged and simple to use, decent images
Review created: 04/10/07

4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I was lucky enough to get this as my first "serious" digital camera a good few years ago. Before then I had used only film and the simple and small "point and shoot" cameras that you'll often see taken on holiday or into clubs. So I've had many years of experience with it and also seen others working with it.

This type of camera bridges the gap between the small point and shoot (also shortened to P&S) cameras with fixed lenses and the higher-end DSLR cameras with interchangeable lenses. In this it does its job very well. It has more functions and is better quality in every respect for similar prices in the P&S ranges, while being easier to use and cheaper than the more professional style DSLR.

*Initial impressions*

When I first got the camera I was very impressed by it. It feels like a quality instrument rather than a toy. It's certainly more complicated than the older and more simple cameras, but it has lots of basic modes to gradually introduce you into the use of the camera. It also comes with a good manual to help you out on the way, though you can often try experimenting with it too if you are averse to reading manuals like most of us are. It takes both Compactflash memory cards, which are very cheap if you shop around and are still being manufactured and developed (as of late 2007) and the older SmartMedia cards which you may still be able to find stocks of or second hand on eBay, but are now largely obsolete as no modern camera uses them.

*Build Quality*

The body is a rugged plastic and felt well made, which has been proven by the many years of use and abuse that the camera has taken in its stride. I've had it rained on, it's spent lengthy periods in a rucksack while on hikes and been dropped off a desk and fallen to the floor and it's still continued to function. While I'd never suggest anyone tempt fate themselves in such a way, it is good to see that it's built in such a way it can take the occasional accident and bump that either bad luck or carelessness can cause.

*Handling and Picture Quality*

The body is comfortable to hold and the buttons easy to use. It's worth pointing out that even those with smaller hands, especially women and children will find it easier to hold than some of the larger and heavier cameras out there. The images the camera produces are quite nice, especially once you've learned how to get the most out of it. For the vast majority of people it'd make a great camera for taking snaps of the family and the occasional arty shot. If you only print 6x4 photos, make web page or email pictures and the occasional 10x8 or A4 sized picture then you'll likely never need anything more.

*Final Opinions and Summary*

Nowadays it is inexpensive and so it'd make a great camera to learn on for both children and adult alike. It's also a good camera to consider if you are not sure if you should make the move to a full SLR or stick with the P&S. Learn on this before you spend money you won't get back and then regret. It's also useful for those who do have more expensive or higher-end cameras as a back up or a camera to use in situations where you'd not want to lug all your heavy and expensive gear, such as on holiday, rough ground, sports/stadiums or less desirable areas where it may be damaged or stolen. The only downside is the two-second start-up/shut-down time when in a hurry, but turning it on ahead of time in anticipation solves that problem.

It's superb for the price and if you are new then it is ideal.

Getting started with Digital SLR photography.
Review created: 02/10/07
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Having had a number of compact digital cameras I was becoming a bit bored with the results and wanted the challenge of upgrading to a Digital SLR which would give me more scope to achieve a greater variety of photgraphic effects. Fuji produced this camera when 3million pixels was the norm at the high end of the market yet the S602 zoom, due to some snippy technology, produces images equivelant to 6 million pixels, and I liked the idea of having those extra pixels to use when cropping and printing. I already had smart media cards and compact flash memory cards left over from my old cameras which can be used in the S602.With 3-6 million pixels, the images are not so huge in file size yet provide lots of detail that my older pcs can handle and the memory cards would fit into the appropriate slots on my PC..all technoloy compatible for shooting, editing and printing to my hearts content.
The camera has an excellent zoom facility and macro mode
allowing close ups of flowers and insects as long as you have a steady hand or a tripod. It is relatively easy to use and not too big to fit snuggly into the hand. It has an auto setting which indictaes the setting for apperature and shutter speed in the viewfinder as the shot is taken which is a great help when learning what settings to use in certain situations. You can then move on to settings that allow more control and make decisions for yourself to get the effect you want. In addition there is a set of pre set situation settings which again are also useful so even a beginner like me can get started and learn as you shoot so to speak. Controls are well placed and it has the advantage of having a veiwfinder as well as a screen...(very useful in bright sunlight) and toggling between the two is simply at the press of a button as is zooming in or out. Disapointingly, because of the noise the lens makes zooming in or out, the video does not zoom as more modern cameras do but I knew this before purchase. Video is industry standard 30fps and really excellent sound and picture quality. The results I have had so far from photos relect my amatuer status and a shortfall of knowledge in certain areas but I am learning. I have taken some great photos of the cat and the potential for greater things is there once I learn how to use it properly. Certainly it is providing the challenge I wanted and I am very very pleased with it.The camera came complete with add on wide angle and telephoto lenses, camera bag and all leads so I got a whole lot of camera for my money. It is a sealed unit unlike other SLRs so it does not have a dust problem at all when shooting. The viewscreen is directly behind the cameras eye and so what you see is what you get on the photo. If I cannot get to grips with the complexities of Digital SLR photography its a good enough piece of kit to resell. personally I think I will keep this camera for a long time as it is meets all my needs for the forseeable future and despite being an older camera has almost all the features you might expect a more modern camera to have at a fraction of the cost. A great introduction to SLR digital photography.

I bought the camera (second user) as it included two 128Mb memory cards a 64Mb card and a 1Gb microdrive, spare batteries and soft case.
Its my second one of the same model, one for me and one for my daughter.
We like the quality and feel plus simplicity of use and massive choice of settings dont like the way it gets through batteries, particularly if you leave the batteries in the camera when it isn't being used...they're ALWAYS flat when you try to turn it on, but if you take one out they remain charged, most be on standby not turned off!!
Bought it second hand on Ebay because camera and all the kit cost less than the price of the 3 memory cards alone.
