From the moment I was first introduced to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I loved them. As I got into them more and more, I started listening to the older releases. I absolutely fell in love with the older, more funky stylings of albums like Blood Sugar Sex Magic.
I bought this album because I didn't have it. Not because I desperatly wanted it. I was cruising eBay and there it was. And boy, am I glad I bought it. From the moment it came I've been listening to it. It's one of those albums that you put on, and it absorbs you. I'm listening to it now!
Even the insert is good. Flea (Michael Balzary) has written for this album a little 'trip down memory lane'. The insert is full of nostalgia and funny happenings from the old days, before the Chili's career really took off globally.
My Favourite song from the album has to be Blackeyed Blonde. A really funky song with a continuous quick groove throughout, never slowing down. Flea really shows off his amazing slap bass skills by never stopping. He places a percussive note on every beat. Although, every single song on the entire album is awesome. I love it, and I imagine that it won't stop playing for a while. This version (the remastered one) also has demo tracks and the previously unreleased Millionairres Against Hunger.
I cannot say a bad word about this album. I have to admitt I am a little biased, as I am a huge Chilis fan, but if there was something that stood out to be bad about this LP I would say! :-)
Overall, AWESOME. Anyone that is a fan of the Chilis, or even just likes funk, should buy it, cherish it and take it for walks everyday!
