AN ABSOLUTELY AWESOME STORY THAT KEPT MY HYPERACTIVE CHILDREN (AGED 6 AND 2 ) GLUED TO THE T.V. SIMPLY A MUST SEE FAIRYTALE ABOUT 5 CHILDREN AND A SAND FAIRY.
This is my youngest daughter's favourite film EVER!! I had to purchas this one as she had worn out a previous DVD....her sister is just sooo fed up of it, but she also knows absolutely every word of the film. A really good imaginative film that would suit young children - boys and girls - of around 5yrs to 10yrs and probably a bit older. It's about 5 world war 2 evacuees - father off to war and mothers nursing wounded. They go live with their mad uncle Albert and his son. They get bored as Uncle has loads of rules. Robert gets angry with his sibling and goes off to the greenhouse where they were forbidden to go and finds a locked hut. He gets his siblings and they go into the hut and are suprised to find the seaside at the bottom of a stairway and that's where they find IT. that's where their adventures begin....
Fantastic story with great characters from the wonderful story writer Edith Nesbit (The Railway Children, The Phoenix and the Carpet, The Treasure Seekers). I think that many ideas for Harry Potter came from this wonderful story. It covers homesickness, trying to get on as a family, worry about parents far away, crazy relatives and keeping a Secret. All my children aged from 3 to 12 really enjoyed this DVD and I did too. Definitely recommended for fun family viewing.
I bought this because I had seen it on TV at Christmas but missed some of it. I love children's films and this one has a good script, a great cast, and plenty of pace. Lots of fun!
A Truly Wonderful Family Film, A Definite One To Watch! This Magical Story of 5 Children who Stumble across a Very Strange Looking Sand Fairy who Grants the Children one wish a day. The Children soon realize the Wishes they are asking for are getting them into more trouble and they desperately need to find a wish to rectify the mess they are in. A Very ENGLISH Film with a Great Cast which boasts lots of Exciting and Magical Adventures. Your Child/Children may also recognize Charlie form Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! 101% Recommended. A PERFECT Treat for all the Family!
I bought it because my children wanted to watch it at Christmas but we were out and missed it on the TV. It is a great film, and we all love watching it.
I bought this as i wanted a good all round family film, something that would suit all ages , This did the job, was loved and laughed at by all, from my 5 year old daughter to my 14 year old son,
This film is a wonderful childrens spin of the 'be careful what you wish for' genre. Eddie Izzard is well cast as the sand fairy and the film location is beautiful. I originally bought this film for my four year old son, and to be honest there was just not enough naughtiness in it to kep him thoroughly amused, but his older friends have begged to borrow it time and time again. If you liked the 'feel good factor' of Narnia, then this filmis for you.
A Psammead is 'It', an ancient, irritable, ugly sand fairy, which five children find one day in a gravel pit. As a reward for finding him, It grants the children one wish a day, the results of which will last until sunset. The children soon discover that making sensible wishes without any troublesome repercussions is more difficult than they first thought!
