This is one of those albums that I used to own about 20 odd years ago on vinyl and somewhere along the line it was either lent out and lost or sold at a carboot sale when I was broke, its the wierdest 'Electro' you will find, post punk and loads of attitude, kind of Joy Division meet the Incredible string band in Kraftwerks studio, get pissed and sit through a seminar on punk ethos by Jonny Rotten and then record an album! Yes, it's fucked up but bloody amazing! Or maybe you just had to be there, having said that,I played it to my Stepson and his mates who are 15yrs old and they loved it so it can't just be me! If the only 'electro' groups you listened to in the 80's were Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet then maybe it's not for you or maybe it's what you really need, far less painfull than a good kicking which, lets be honest, is what you deserve! lol!
I first heard Fireside favourites when I was about 13 years old and I listened intently to this grungy electo-punk-pop that was way ahead of it's time. Depeche Mode learned what they know from Frank Tovey. No punches are pulled lyrically as all subjects from sex, drugs and politics are covered and the music is hard and driving, sexy, full of groans and screams and feedback. The synthesizers are made to sound like power tools. If post 1990 Depeche Mode got angry , then you're halfway to Fad Gadget I'm 35 years old now and it still sounds brilliant.
